1980, Jimmy Carter is the comparison, no surprise considering Obama's policies are rather similar to Carter's failed policies.
Now that things are coming out about Benghazi, I think Obama is not going to win re-election.

Benghazi isn't even on most Americans radar.
And in fact, Obama probably have more in common with Clinton's successful policies.

Under Clinton the economy grew and I believe Bubbah presided over the first budgetary surplus in decades. Lord Obama has run up the deficity to record levels so there is little resemblece between the economy under Lord Obama and the economy under Bubbah.
The U.S. economy is quite ill and Lord Obama has done little to cure it.

Part of that is due to the mess Bush left Obama. Plus, Obama added both wars to the national budget - something which Bush had simply put on the country's credit card. So of course it's going to be bigger.

Bubbah the jolly-nosed hillbilly had the internet boom on his side. What makes you think anyone can cure the economy by snapping their fingers? Corporate profits are up and the Dow keeps chugging along so what's the problem? Corporations don't want to hire Americans to work in the factories? Unemployment still too high? Awwwww... boo hoo... so sad. American workers went out of style. Maybe if the repubs get rid of the minimum wage they will pay the poor out-of-work bums a dollar to shine their shoes. According to the 1% the major problem is Americans think they are entitled to jobs they can live off of. <chuckle> The Holy Benevolent Hand of The Free Market says you ain't entitled to s**t. Now get on your hands and knees dirty peasants!

You do realize the highest amount of Revenue that the Federal Government ever took in was in 2007 if I remember correctly (so much for the argument that the tax cuts caused a decrease in revenue).
You know about the 47% remarks, I think Obama/Biden and the rest of his administration are perfect examples, instead of taking responsibility for their own failed policies they constantly blame Bush, tsunamis, Greece, ATMs, etc. Romney probably left out the word "politicians" on accident.

Bush was President for longer than 2007.
And I think you know Romney wasn't referring to people like Obama and Biden when disparaging the 47%. He was talking about a group of people that encompasses a great many Aspies.

January 2001 to January 2009, and I never saw Bush running around screaming about the National Security Mess Clinton left him with when 9/11 happened. Instead Bush acted like a leader that was not going to let something like 9/11 happen again on his watch, and there wasn't another large scale successful attack in the United States. There were a lot of foiled attempts, but Bush didn't run around bragging about foiling them, instead he kept his focus on keeping the Country safe.
I kinda agree (probably not in the way you're going to like) with that it wasn't directed at Obama/Biden though they are good examples of it. However, I look at what Romney said to be an honest observation and the reason people are offended is because it is too close to the truth for them to feel comfortable. Kraichgauer this is going to be a lengthy explanation just to give you a head's up, some of it may seem to be off topic at first, but I assure you it all ties together.
You know the Left Wing Moron thread and Right Wing Nut thread in the politics section of this forum kinda showed something that I suspected was true for a while.
People on the right largely laughed off what was said in the Right Wing Nut thread, because it was generally inaccurate and also could laugh at themselves, some things thrown at them that were thought to be insults were taken as compliments (and believe me I am well aware some of what was said was meant to be insulting).
People on the left, on the other hand went ballistic over what was said in the left wing moron thread, and there is a reason for that. What was said in the left wing moron thread hit extremely close to home for many people whom are liberals here, because there was too much truth in what was said for them to accept. Even when it was a thread that was meant as a parody people took it as mortal insults. The reason I believe that to be the case is cause it was too close to the truth for them and they didn't want to hear it.
Have I taken things as being insulting in the past, sure however, I'm not going to go bananas over a thread that is clearly labeled to simply be "poking fun," it's silly to take offense in a situation like that.
Now I don't believe you guys blame others out of laziness, I believe you (not specifically directed towards any individual) blame others for your problems because that is what you were taught to believe by extremely unethical individuals. Romney was talking about the core base of Obama's support that believes that successful people somehow stole from everyone in order to be successful, and that successful person needs to be punished. The overwhelming majority of the time, said successful person got where they are through honest hard work not stealing from others.
When I look at what Romney said, I didn't take any offense (instead I see what he's talking about), I could easily quit my part time job and use my disability as a crutch; its tempting, and probably more tempting for other people. However, I don't want to be dependent on others, I'm hoping Obama gets kicked out of office so businesses can start hiring again (may take some time to clear out all the red tape), while having a job can give headaches, I want to make my own way, not be dependent on government food stamps.
Anyone here that is working a part-time job and struggling, Romney wasn't referring to you. Anyone here that physically can't work, Romney wasn't referring to you. While the Democrats want you to believe Romney was talking about people that are working two jobs and still below the poverty line, that wasn't whom he was referring to (someone like that is someone Romney throws into his 53% category).
Romney was referring to people getting their free Obama-phone and stuff like that; you can argue he overestimated the percentage of people in that category, but to argue he was bashing people based on disability is inaccurate.

As a matter of fact, my wife qualified for a free cell phone because she's on social security due to a physical disability. I fail to see how that's a bad thing, especially if we're away from home while our daughter is in school, and they need to get hold of us. And I have been on food stamps - trust me, I'd rather be dependent on the government than to let my little girl go hungry.
And who's to judge anyone on public assistance as being worthy or not? Many of those people who have been vilified for making the social safety net a way of life often have been out of work so long that they have succumbed to severe, untreated, undiagnosed depression - trust me, I know what I'm talking about, here. I have never known anyone on public assistance who is genuinely happy about the circumstances of their lives. That's the 47%. Romney needs to use his money to buy a heart. And regardless of what he thinks of them, that 47% are still Americans, and if Romney gets elected, he'll really be falling down on the job if he doesn't represent them, as he promised his rich friends he wouldn't.
And I've never known anyone who holds the rich's success against them. That class envy the right spouts is just a load of s**t meant to silence those who speak out against the growing wealth gap between the tiny 1% and the rest of us.

However, your wife has a physical disability, and I suspect you would much rather have a well paying job than have to be reliant on food stamps.
The situation is rather complex Kraichgauer I will grant you that, but Mitt Romney isn't exactly heartless, considering the man donates 30% of his income to charity, and is known for donating his time to help people with no fanfare, he doesn't brag about it, etc.
I actually have Kraichgauer and so have you whether you recognize it or not. I suspect Mitt Romney just had the percentages wrong.
Also you do realize there is at least 2 minutes missing from that tape, makes you wonder what was said in that 2 minutes that may actually have made Romney look better in your eyes.

Nope, no great paying job - rather, I'm a bohemian bum trying to break into professional fiction. The jobs I've worked in my time - despite being a college graduate - have been s**t.
And no, no class envy on my part. But I do admit to resentment that there are those who don't regard me as an equal because of my economic status. But that's hardly envy.
As far as those missing two minutes are concerned, Romney would have had to have taken back every single word he had said about the 47% for my opinion about him to have changed.
