We are obligated to be grateful for everything capitalists have done for us. Never mind that, in this land of freedom, we have never been allowed any other choice.

Who published the material that says that somebody else is stealing our cookies?

Why would it be in their interest to keep us afraid of other options?

Whatever capitalism has done is in the past. The future of the economy is in the Worker Self-Directed Enterprise. This is still privately owned, and still participates in the market.

How can we use this knowledge to take our place in the new economic system?

Any steps toward eliminating the Crony system are steps in the right direction.

Government involvement and aid to business is not a benign thing. It has a very dark side. When the government picks the winners, the Losers win, big time at the expense of everyone else.

That's why promoting worker owned business needs to be official public policy. It's the only way to offset capitalist malfeasance.

Capitalist malfeasance put your computer in front of your face and provided ALL the components of the international computer network you are using.

I thought that was capitalist innovation that made use of PC's common in everyone's households. I think what GoonSquad is getting at is how capitalists have often screwed over the working man and woman.

That is true. But whatever private businessmen have to to us, the Government has done ten times worse, trumped the private folks in Spades. The main source of evil in the 20 th century was government. It will probably be the same in the 21 st century.

But there have been things government has given us that private business never could - civil rights, police and military protection, a social safety net, etc. In fact, I would be very fearful if those things were ever privatized.
