The boy was released and Jimmy Lee Dykes is dead. I'm really, really happy about this news.

I agree he targeted the kid becouse he had AS, the odds are what 1 in 110 its a coinsedence. Not sure Sandy Hook had anything to do with it though, maybe US news is different but here the aspergers part of the story died mere hours after the shooting.

Poor kid, he will likely be messed up and untrusting for a very long time, at least this awfil story shows the reality that people with aspergers are far far more likely to be the victim.

I think it actually must have been the constant droning on about how to disassemble and reassemble a steam-engine from a Glück auf locomotive in Klingon that ended this terrible tragedy.

That'd make anyone pop their top.

Why is everyone so happy that another person has died and yet so sad about another person dead when both have killed and both were killed? :?

People like bad people dying. They don't like good people dying.

(Good and bad obviously being things that aren't set in stone, but you get the drift.)

Someone at some point will want to make a film about it.

Good news! The kid was rescued last night, and his captor was shot dead. Apparantly negotiations were going downward, so the cops stormed in.

Yeah I agree that cheering that someone is dead is sick and so wrong.

I fail to follow your point, how is the media responsible for this guy taking this boy hostage?

It sounds to me like that guy took the boy hostage because he had AS, because he associates it with bad things after the Sandy Hook tragedy.

He didn't even know the boy; the boy was selected at random. How would he even know?

Its good news because the kid with aspergers is the survivor not the perpetrator and the media loves the kid.

"He was running around the hospital room, putting sticky notes on everyone who was in there, eating a turkey sandwich and watching 'Spongebob'," Dale County Schools Superintendent Ronny Bynum said.

Yep hes an aspie...

I thought I read he called the kid by name on the bus, don't quote me though. Also like 90% of abductions are by those known to the family I think I read someware again don't quote me.

Well even if he did know him, there's no proof he took the boy because he had AS; that's stretching it way too far.

A school holds what 53 people?, if the odds of autism is 1 in 110 you have a less then 50% chance of even having an autistic kid on the bus, as for aspergers that number gets lower yet to what degree I don't know, point is the odds of randomly picking a kid with aspergers is about as good as me buying a lottery ticket tonight and winning $100, possable yes however very unlikely. Maybe someone who is up on the numbers and good at math could figure out the odds of what happened, sure looks planned to me. I'm also saying this thinking it is a regular size bus with standard passengers.

I have followed this hostage story closely. Dykes didn't know the child had AS, he kidnapped him because the child had fainted and therefore was easy to carry off.

It is not good that two people have died. It is however good that the kid is alive and well. So many hostage situations have gone wrong, how can you not cheer when there's one where the hostage is saved? That's my opinion, anyway.

Dykes personally knew the bus driver according to CNN, even exchanged cookies and returned favors, its a small town everybody knows everybody, Dykes was a paroniod person who spent alot of time investigating things and people. The bus only had 20 kids aranged young at front old in back, I would not have been surprised if the autistic kid had been placed by the driver on perpose as that type of stuff is commonplace with disabled people. Dykes had the avenues to learn about the kids aspergers.
