I've never been shot, but I was branded once. Do I get a discount for that?

If you show it at Western Sizzlin' you get 10% off.

Before it gets moved to PPR, it is impossible to have a rational debate about this issue in WP because just the very act of posting a story like this is looked upon as an assault on the 2nd Amendment. Any attempt to further the debate will result in someone being accused of personal attacks. Which is exactly why this problem exists, is because for far too many gun owners in the US the very act of looking sideways at someone can be viewed by 2nd Amendment extremists is a threat worthy of being shot, and in a Republican led state that act of murder will be considered justified.
That is, of course, total nonsense. It's nothing but the worst sort of propaganda.

Okay I'll bite. How exactly did you get "branded"?

It was the night before the first day of the 3rd grade in August 1962. My oldest brother who is 12 years older than me was in the shop cutting a piece of iron with a cutting torch to build something and I was standing there watching him. When he finished the cut and got up and walked away, I stepped on something, slipped, and fell right on top of the red hot metal.

The main burn was on my arm, but it also got my neck and knee a little as well. My parents went to town and got some burn ointment to put on it. The burn left a scar the length of my forearm that was still bright red in the mid 1980s and is still visible, but faded, today.

People like this who don't bother using guns properly make me scream internally.

Those things are best reserved as emergency weapons, y'know! :x

Is it still the case that charges have not been filed against this lunatic?

Guy I went to school with had the perfect imprint of a Russian PPsh 41 barrel shroud burned into his arm, apparently someone set one down hot on the table at a machine gun shoot he was working, and he put his arm down on it reaching across for something else. Cool looking scar, as these things go, he said it hurt pretty bad at the time, but had to admit it was kinda cool in retrospect, some of the guys at school knew immediately what it was down to the gun model without even asking, I got the feeling some of them were considering doing it to themselves.
I nearly did something similar with an MG42 at a shoot I was working, though I managed to jerk my arm away before any real damage could occur, 1200 rpm of 8mm Mauser tends to heat up a barrel pretty quickly.

Closest I've come to that was having a piping hot 5.56 casing going down my shirt and leaving tracks (burns) as it slid down whilst I did a rain dance trying to keep it off my skin. The burn marks weren't too bad and they healed up.
