Not sure I buy this conspiracy. Matter of fact my driver license doesn't expire in 2008 its in 2029. May 2008 is too close at hand to get everyone a new ID card and get the technology/card machines in place for it to even work. If the date was really that close they would already be sending out paperwork for people to fill out. The US govt works like a well oiled snail and nothing that complicated could get implicated that quickly. Also you know who will be out of office by then.

And if the 2012 prophesies hold true ID cards will be the furtherest thing to worry about.

Sorry I don't believe this conspiracy just like my friend was near mental breakdown over the supposed Codex conspiracy that never came to be.

Ticker....Your right about the license expiring in 2008. I don't agree with that part but it doesn't change the fact that it was signed into public law on May 11,2005. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REAL_ID_Act I don't think it matters who is in office. I don't know about the Mayan 2012 prophecies i don't think anyone knows when the end is.

Take a look at your current driver's license. Check the expiration date. 2008 would be a good global guess.

2011. :P

Actually its not as easy to find people as you think... There are certain key things that makes it easy to find people, if you know how to legally avoid those things you can make being found imposssible. Personally I don't have that much time or effort. National ID card is something that would really piss me off... Its the kind of thing that just might make me decide to become a criminal. Then again, if all of this is true who knows, couple years from now I might be in a prison for no real reason.

Just like any system there will be checks and balances to make sure it isn't abused.

I wouldn't be so sure. Checks and balances can be easily, and gradually, removed. Especially if there is 'reason' to.

I don't see the government keeping a giant database on your purchases.

Tesco and others already do it. All your withdrawals already get logged, all the places where you've used your card and when get logged. The store and credit card databases are in place. It's only a matter of time before they get linked up. While we have cash and so on we're still relatively OK but in a few decades or so I wouldn't be so sure.

Big brother IS watching and they're finding more and better ways to watch you all the time.

"Anyone who is not with us (in agreeing with war) is with the terrorists." This alone is a very telling statement. If you don't agree with our crappy government policy to kill 1000s of innocent people in the name of the almighty dollar and the power and might of the all powerful US, you are a terrorist.

This is a slippery slope, my friends. What people are accepting as needed and necessary now will only get out of hand unless it is reversed, and before you know it you will not have any right of dissent or freedom of opinion differing from the government.

And most who will then be unhappy and complaining will have no right too as they didn't care enough to fight for their rights. They're too busy watching American Idol.

Most other countries are in awe of how out of touch most Americans are to what is happening in the own country and around the world.

They have already at times encouraged people to call the FBI with any information of anyone who is generally out of the ordinary or suspicious, but gave no real guidelines as to what you're supposed to look out for or what this actually means. How many of us "weirdos" may fall into that category?
