I wish I was in Canada. I am sorry to say that I am getting sick of this country. If Trump wins, I may move there, and my husband and cats are coming, whether they want to or not.

I think Canada is one of the best places in the world to live. Sure it's cold half the time, but you figure out how to dress for it pretty fast. Health care is great (if a bit slow,) people are friendly, the economy could be better, but with time it probably will be. And it's beautiful. I can recommend Ontario's Land 'O Lakes.

There are probably more people in the U.S. threatening to move to Canada right now then there are Canadians. Not even a tenth of those threatening to move would be able to immigrate legally. It's more likely the U.S. will break apart into 2 or 3 countries before 30+ million people immigrate north.

I think you're right. I hope one of them is Cascadia. The West Coast has a cool vibe.

For real.

If ten percent of the US population became Trump refugees that would equal the entire population of Canada.

Lol!

That wouldn't be so bad. How can people help but be in a good mood in such an ecologically pleasing environment.

Oh I'd definitely move there though. Already have designs on settling somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.

I have some friends that are serial Canada flight threateners, every time a Republican they find particularly odious might win something; if two terms of W didn't get them to follow through, I doubt Trump will either.

The good thing about Trump is he will help with our US population and Canada will grow. Maybe he will help with Portland about our growing population. Now on a serious note humor aside, I think people are over reacting. We survived with George W. Bush, I think we will again with Trump.

True. When W was elected for a second term, that's when I probably would have gotten out.

Trump is a unique creature. I think he will win the national election on bombast alone.

New York Times: Fleeing Trump (or Clinton): Look Out, Canada, Here They Come

Quote:
“Our phones, as of today, have literally gone crazy with Americans calling,” an immigration lawyer in Vancouver, David Aujla, said on Wednesday. “I used to say that George Bush was my best marketing ally. And I’m going to elevate Donald Trump to that position as soon as he becomes president.”

My understanding is that Canada does not necessarily welcome autistic immigrants.

I didn't realize it was a culture thing to say sorry when you bump someone, I always thought they were either rude or weren't paying attention. But I guess it's an American thing to not say it but in Canada you are expected to.

I'm not sure. I guess if you're young and economically viable you have a better chance.

Ideally, both should apologize, no matter if you're in Gichi Goomie, the US, Canada, etc.

Peaches to pears.

Trump neither attracts, nor repels, because of any trace of GOP ideology he may have. He repels (and attracts for that matter) because he's Trump.

Glenn Beck, Mitt Romney, and many other conservative Republicans might also flee if Trump is elected.
