I agree with xenocity. Our media does not exist to ensure the populous nor the electorate is well informed about current events. In a society such as ours, news media is just one of many methods of entertainment used to get the viewer to ingest advertising. The product being sold by news media is advertising views; the customer is a corporation that wants to sell something. We the viewers are nothing more than another raw material in the production process.

The way you can tell a news story has run its course is when the media tries to get that one last bit of sell out of it by reporting on the media reporting on the story.

Nah, just ignore me. I should know better by now than to ask anyone for any kind of help, especially my relatives and so-called friends. I'm just tired of being ostracized when I do ask. For example, the jerk I have to haul around raised hell because the 50 bucks he gave me for hauling him around was spent in less than 3 hours, no thanks to 1) paying the shrink $10.00 of the $400.00 I owe him in back fees (since the Medicare Advantage Plan has a $45.00 copayment, that I can't afford), I put 16.00 of gas in the tank, and I spent 17.45 to refill my insulins and metformin. Yet this twerp still raises hell, insisting I spent all of it at fast food joints. He wants an accounting of how I spent every last penny he gave he for my services for the last 2 weeks, yet I can't say anything on how much money he spends on booze (and he gets piss tested randomly every week) He raises hell on how I drive, he raises hell about my weight, he raises hell every time something goes wrong with his cell phone (he has an android, which gives me fits every time I have to work on it. If I can't figure it out, I get insulted by him with "And you call yourself a computer expert? If anything you're a fat f!cking jackass!" Excuse me for having an iPhone! He'll call me at any time of the day or night, and I have to be at his beck and call at a moment's notice. I've already blown up at him twice in the past week, but will he back off? F!CK, NO!

I never really heard of this Prince guy, so it doesn't make much of a difference to my life.

I was really, really upset when Terry Wogan died though. I loved him.

Fun fact: cable nooz bloviators are apparently paid according to how much time they can fill. So, the more mileage they can get out of a "story", the better for them, since they're essentially paid on commission like a used car salesman. So, that's why they do the endless speculation thing. I dunno about local news, but I suspect that in a place like Los Angeles that it's a similar setup, that's why when some idiot is trying to evade cops on the Westside that every single channel will send a helicopter and frantically "call" the chase as if they were soccer announcers in Mexico. A few years ago two nooz choppers in Phoenix crashed into each other while doing the live car chase thang.

Prince's body was cremated within a day after being turned over to his next-of-kin. His ashes will be interred in a private location. The autopsy results won't be ready for a few more weeks.

I'm betting that his death was caused by congestive heart failure, with a side bet that it was caused in turn by pneumonia and/or the legal medications he was taking to treat it.

I never knew that Prince was his given name. I wonder if Michael Jackson named his son after him.

I agree. The media's romance with this guy has gotten nauseating.
