i take your point, but i would sacrifice everything to find the 2yo child that's lost or kidnapped. Literally. Even somebody else's kid. There are things that are greater than my own freedoms. Just gotta figure it out.

how about a wrist-band you can remove like watch?

let it be totally voluntary, put inside of an otherwise "dumb" watch of dedicated purpose aside from reading time. putting it in cellphones is risking remote activation.

i'm not a medico so I can't answer that other than to say they have done it. but in chipped dogs at least, it correlates with an increased rate of tumor growth around the implant.

i don't think you have to "interface" it if it's not directly acting with the nervous system.

I've got no problem with this. I would especially like them to implant a chip or barcode or whatever that would give my detailed medical history. It would be like a medic-alert bracelet, only better.

The day will probably come when our banking information is also embedded in our bodies. No cashiers or checkouts anymore, you're just scanned as you leave the store along with the items.

Only for severely disabled people who tend to run away from their families/schools/homes.

An implant, while not permanent, would be difficult to remove. Cell phones/watches/smart devices are enough for me, but the thought of always finding abducted/accosted people is very appealing too. I don't know the answer, but a permanent, or semi-permanent, tracking device scares me. I certainly won't be eager to get one if they become available to the general population, though maybe I'd feel otherwise if I had some condition that made travel very unsafe.

This is what you get with big government that gives you free stuff and controls your life for your "safety"...

Enjoy

For any who say this is the result of liberal government taking a step beyond giving free stuff to the rest of us, my response is: both houses of congress, where this travesty was spawned, are run by the increasingly right wing Republican party.
