That's what typical imperialists used to do in the old days: rape and pillage.

Did I say Columbus was a good fellow?

But I can't blame Columbus for bringing about the genocide.

We don't have a Custer holiday.
Museums are for showing history,both good and bad.That is where I think the Confederate statues belong,they are part of our history.Columbus isn't.
As for any headstone honoring the dead,that's not really the same as celebrating Columbus's supposed great accomplishments.I'd imagine most of the dead soldiers wished they had never seen the Little Big Horn or Custer.
What museum specifically honors Indian killers?

Thanksgiving needs to be abolished. Every statue and monument of Union soldiers needs to be removed due to them taking part in genocide.

I'm serious. Now that this trend has been initiated, it should go the entire distance. No exceptions.

I don't live in Seattle. I live in an entirely different county, so I'm not familiar with it. And unless it's a holiday that involves a day off from school and or candy, I usually don't pay any attention when it takes place.

But anyways it seems like Thanksgiving is the biggest slap in the face to Natives.

Will agree on that,but I doubt that holiday gets changed.I jokingly refer to it as Thankstaking.Love the scene in the Addams Family movie when they burn the village to the ground.
I can't remember doing anything in school for that day.

I believe Thanksgiving is a suitable holiday----because we give "thanks" for what we have. And "what we have," usually, is quite a bit more than what people "have" in some "Third World" places.

I don't know the whole story---but my impression is that the Native Americans living near what is now Plymouth, MA, shared some sort of feast with the Europeans who were escaping religious oppression in their native England.

I doubt it very much that either the Europeans, or the Native Americans, could foresee what did occur in the future.

It was a celebration of amity between two ethnic groups who were seeking common ground, seeking to find a way to tolerate each other.
