Most Trump supporters admittedly voted for Trump just to piss liberals off.

That's why I have been trying to change my rhetoric lately. That'll take the wind out of their sails.

Like I said, the Trump supporters are amoral nihilists who have no goal aside from pissing liberals off. Perhaps we should ignore Trump's stupid tweets. I'm starting to see the real game. It's time to switch strategies.

re: pissing liberals off - I actually don't think raptor is representative of college educated trump voters (the group I am interested in). Even Hitler was once a struggling artist with communist sympathies. It's the reason why erstwhile intelligent people throw their lot behind a known bigot and misogynist is what interests me...

Perhaps the "sins of the father" theory whereby people internalise conservative and racist, homophobic, anti-environment and virtually anything anti-progressive from their parents and "closed" white conservative community might have something to do with the backlash which is aimed not just at progressive females like Hillary Clinton but seething resentment for putting up with 8 yrs of a black president

You're giving them too much credit.

The pro-Trump movement exists because people have lost faith in humanity and our ability to create positive political changes. As a result, they want politics to be funny ... and they cynically believe that anyone who takes politics seriously is a "virtue signaling" hypocrite.

Haiti's problems stem primarily from one single fact.

After Haitians rebelled from France, France threatened to take back their "property" meaning the land, and re-enslave the people, unless Haiti paid France for it's losses of "property". In other words, Haitians were forced to buy themselves out of slavery by France, which had U.S. backing.

France demanded Haiti pay 150 million francs plus interest, but reduced it to 90 million francs plus interest in 1838, which is the modern equivalent of $21 billion. The amazing thing is, Haiti spent until 1947 replaying this "debt" plus interest, at a severe strain to it's economy and the political instability it caused.

Had France never demanded that Haitian slaved buy their freedom, Haiti would likely not be in such a poor state today. Many argue that it's France that should repay Haiti. France benefited greatly from the income generated by Haitian sugar plantations and the people who were forced to work those plantations were never compensated for their labor. It's difficult to argue retributions for dead people after a point, but if anything, France should repay Haiti what the Haitian government paid for the freedom of it's people...plus interest, and that money should go into re-development of the country. It was not until 1899 that France officially and finally abolished slavery in all of it's territories.

There are plenty of countries where one can make the claim that "these people are just corrupt and don't know what they are doing and that is why their county is a sh!thole" to which one couldn't offer evidence to the contrary, but Haiti is not one of them. Haiti had an enormous and abhorrent burden imposed on it. "Pay us or we will literally enslave your people again" and Haiti paid.

A lawsuit has been filed against Trump by Haitians impacted by the removal of protection which numbers 60,000 Haitians.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Maryland federal court, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund said Homeland Security officials failed to follow the normal decision-making process when considering whether to renew the temporary protected status granted to Haitian immigrants since a devastating earthquake struck the Caribbean country in 2010.

Instead of reviewing facts about conditions in Haiti since the earthquake, including an ongoing cholera outbreak and destruction from Hurricane Matthew in 2016, Homeland Security officials sought to bolster stereotypes about blacks and immigrants committing crimes and receiving public assistance, according to the lawsuit.

The temporary protected status allowing Haitians to legally live and work in the U.S. after the 2010 earthquake had been renewed repeatedly, to the chagrin of critics who said the humanitarian measure never intended to allow immigrants to establish roots in this country.

The Trump administration announced in November that Haitians with the protected status would have until July 2019 to get their affairs in order and return home.
