I don't believe it was ever said one guard had dirt on the other guards to persuade them to get involved.

The article made it unclear how many guards were involved anyway.It is quite possible the inmate had dirt on the guard who had the affair and that was used to persuade the guard to smuggle drugs,but that is just a guess,the article did not say or specify that.
