That's true...

BUT at the same time, is his ambition to turn America into an isolationist country really a good thing for Americans in the long run? I'm seriously asking.

It depends on how much isolation is involved.

Putting up walls around America and treating the rest of the world as if it doesn't exist -- probably not.

Withdrawing American troops from foreign conflicts and eliminating foreign aid -- maybe.

Tightened screening on who gets in, visits, and stays here -- again, maybe.

We won't really know unless it actually happens.

Also pulling us out of nuclear treaties and the World Health Organization during a pandemic seems pretty bad...

I wonder if part of the problem is that we no longer give presidents enough time in office to make any lasting changes for the better of our country?

I wonder if the main part of the problem is that we no longer elect presidents who make any changes for the betterment of our country?

When it comes down to popularity vs. merit, popularity wins and merit takes a hike.

Yeah, no U.S. president deserves a NPP. You have to actually be about peace, not a tool for the Military Industrial Complex.

I hear Obama used his as a paper weight for his kill list.

Trump commented: “They gave it to Obama. He didn’t even know what he got it for. He was there for about 15 seconds and he got the Nobel Prize. He said, ‘Oh, what did I get it for?’” Trump said in February 2019. “With me, I probably will never get it.”

There are actually two types of Nobel Prizes. Most of the prizes are awarded for accomplishments is specific fields: chemistry, physics, physiology or medicine, literature, and economics. The other type of prize is called the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Committee prepares a report reflecting the advice of experts in the relevant fields. But the Peace Prize is different. It is political. The Norwegian Nobel Committee is responsible for the selection of eligible candidates and the choice of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates. The Committee is composed of five members appointed by the Storting (Norwegian parliament).

Obama got the NPP for not being George W. Bush. Seriously.

Yep, and after just 9 months of actually being the POTUS. The remaining 3 years and 3 months he spent practicing his drone striking.
