You would be more like Australia, except we did a better job with genocide of indigenous people.

custer thought he was god, look where it got him, as worm food. flynn himself, merely another general, may have a god complex as well.

Why the hyper-virtue signaling?
Why do you feel a need to piss on your country through hyperbole? 8O

Nothing says "I believe in the constitution" like calling for a military coup. If you're a trump supporter at least. Ever notice how some think that if you're a true believer in the constitution then you can do all sorts of unconstitutional things to supposedly protect the constitution?

How do you get a liberty-loving patriot to support a coup? Easy. Subvert the Constitution in the first place. Most of these people believe the Constitution has already been subverted and it's all a game at this point. Honestly, they're not totally off-base.

When in your life have you ever lived under threat of detention or arrest for running a small business in America, or patronizing a small business without wearing a mandated garment on your FACE? When have you ever had to worry about interstate travel and being forced to show papers? This is the most unfree our country has ever been in my lifetime, and ditto for those of you much older and much younger than me.

I thought it was more like dark humor. Though I could be wrong. It recalls to me some of the black humor hospice nurses use among themselves. It is also a way to deal with uncomfortable feelings.

^ I could have said that, but I was afraid of starting another war of words. :D :D :D

Dark humor is a way of dealing with uncomfortable truths.

let us have more dark humor then. in these times of universal deceit it is akin to a revolutionary act to engage in dark humor. truthful dark humor.

Yikes! Another story here: Lawyers Condemn Michael Flynn and Lin Wood’s ‘Breathtakingly Morally Treasonous’ Call for Trump to Declare Martial Law and Hold New Election, by Jerry Lambe, Law and Crime, Dec 2nd, 2020.

I can't know for sure, of course, but my guess is that Trump will try this at some point before Jan. 20, especially if enough high-profile far-right folks egg him on. But hopefully the military will reject it as an unlawful order.

These kinds of conservatives have killed my ability to take them seriously when they act like the only True Patriots and True Constitutionalists. It's like they think they're the only truly patriotic special snowflake Americans. Hearing a conservative cry "Unconstitutional!" at this point is like hearing the boy who cried "Wolf!".

I roll my eyes at Republicans who act like they're the only ones who really believe in the constitution for the same reason I roll my eyes at Christians who act like their denomination is the only one that really believes in the Bible.

These are not attacks on freedom so much as they are temporary emergency measures. They should not need to be enforced by law, but millions of Americans have made it clear that they don't want to have to ever make any sacrifices or changes to their behavior to combat a pandemic. It's a sign of being sheltered from and ignorant of what real oppression is.

They argue against having to change their behavior from a legalistic perspective, because on some level they know that arguing against it from a scientific perspective is impossible.
