Airport Screeners looking at body language and expressions
Read the BBC article and it describes an entire testing methodology. None of which is being done now.
You do not put something in place and THEN test it. That is just insane and incredibly stupid. You test first, then put in place. Yes, no plan holds up to contact with the enemy but you have to at least created a plan in the first place. Which has never been done here. They've just been throwing money at it hoping that it works.
Remember, the government has no money but what we give it. So that is your money, my money and our friends and families money.

TSA Grimfaire " airport screeners are not government employees at all" yes they are gov employees do the screening.

The only thing they have been looking for is aspie characteristics anyhow. This might be better than current-I think I am open in my unresponsiveness. I have always gotten secondary screening like stripping behind a trifold 'screen' (NOT). They now look for eye contact, nervousness and odd walk or body movement. Nothing a terrorist would be stupid enough to do- only aspies. A local autistic was rerouted all over because fellow passengers thaought something "off" about him, nothing specific. his first trip

Tell me more! I want one for when I shut down and get nonstop yelling to prevent my recovery.
Maybe I could stick my arm in their faces? NO on second thought, they would never look, just break it.

All the more reason that I am saving cash so I can get my own plane and fly myself around like God intended.
There is minimal to no airport security on the other side of the airport, where the FBO's and general aviation areas are. You can easily walk right out onto the ramp, and board a plane with a gun on your belt, as long as the pilot is cool with it.
One time, my family flew in to visit. When it came time for them to leave, they boarded the plane by going through the standard airport screening and security, then walking across the ramp to the twin turboprop commuter aircraft. Meanwhile, I went through the FBO (right next to the airline passenger terminal) and onto the ramp, a few dozen yards away from the commercial plane they were boarding, so I could wave goodbye. No security at all.
Airport security is a joke, and it is just Big Government tightening its abusive iron fist of control around its own citizens. It has nothing to do with safety; it is about power, always has been and always will be.
It's not even effective. All it does is compress everybody into one place as they wait in line to take their shoes off. Now Hakkmed doesn't even have to get on the plane to blow everyone to smithereens, when there are 500 victims neatly assembled for him and waiting sheeplike behind the Tensabarriers.
No thanks, I'd rather fly a 90 knot Cessna by myself, than subject myself to such degradation at the hands of the government.
The TSA, and more generally the DHS, need to be summarily disbanded.
Personally I haven't flown much since 9/11. I don't like all the hoopla, never liked flying anyways. I took my son when he was an infant (he didn't even cry) and it was a hassle enough. I drive nowadays and I like to take the train.
From reading the article, it sounds like she arrived at the airport late. You're supposed to arrive at least 90 minutes early. In big cities, it's three hours for me. Did shy expect special treatment by arriving at the airport few minutes before the plane took off and have them hold the plane for her and have her cut in line? My god. People like her make me sick. If she can't get up early, she shouldn't do an early flight. I never do early flights since no way I am getting up early and paying for parking at the airport.
I don't think I've had problems with airport securities. I take off my shoes, take off my coat and all the loose stuff and put them in the tubs. I do the same with my bag and purse. Everyone does that. Sometimes they have to stop you if the machine detects something in your bag, so they have to open it and see what it is. I've been pulled aside to just so they can screen my whole body, same has happened to my Dad. I never took it personal. They do that to anybody if the thing goes off you have to walk through.

I quite agree. If we're going to die we'll die anyway. "Airport security" is one thing I see right through.
They want to protect the innocent people. No one should die by terrorism. Would it be fair to get on a plane and then it gets high jacked and you lose your life because of those people and bam your family has lost a member, you.
They are looking for terrorists and suspects. 9/11 made it hard for everybody. Not just it effect airports, it effected court houses and gov buildings too. Now you have to get screened before you go in the court house. They have tubs too just like the airports. At the social security office, they have to check your bags and purse and see your ID.
Imagine if you had personal stuff in it you didn't want anyone to see such as your incontinent products, you have to face the embarrassment. Imagine what incontinent people have to go through now at the airports. Their bags could get opened and bam everyone sees the diapers. I heard you can request them to do it a private room so no one else will see.
Heck here in Portland, you used to be able to walk around the courthouse freely looking at pictures but now you can't do it anymore after 9/11. Damn terrorists.
Flying was so much easier when I was a kid, now you have limit of two carry ons per person, you can only check on one or two bags i think and they have to be 50 pounds or under or they charge you and they charge you for extra check on luggage. I don't know if 9/11 caused that too or not.
When there was an attempt terrorist attack in London. But luckily the terrorists were caught before the plane took off. They had stuff hidden in the electronic devices to blow up the planes if I remember right, so people couldn't carry on electronic devices who were flying from the Uk to the USA. I felt sorry for them. I need my CD player and hand heldgame console. Without it, would be an uncomfortable flight. But I'd bring a book to read or a puzzle to do. Word search or fill in that are sort of like crossword puzzles.
Remember the security is trying to protect you from the terrorists. I don't blame them. I understand they are doing their job.
They're going the wrong way about it. The way they conduct airport security is designed to be humiliating and inconvenient. I feel like I am cattle in an airport. That can't be a good thing for morale. Flying is no fun any more.
Well, hell, if security is so much more important than individual liberty, maybe the government should just put us all under house arrest until every terrorist in the world is identified and executed. Of course, then you have to hope that the definition of "terrorist" doesn't get expanded (as the current administration would so like to do...)

I bet lot of people hate all the security stuff. I hate bag limitations and I always have to be cautious what I have in my carry ons. I couldn't bring tweezers to Spokane with me so I had to go for two days without plucking my hair. Luckily I have gotten flexible about it so it doesn't drive me crazy anymore that I can't pluck my hair. I had no check on luggage so I had to leave the tweezers behind or they be taken away from me. I even left my razor blade behind and my shampoo and conditioner and had to use my parents. Yes thanks to terrorists hiding stuff in liquid stuff, now everyone can't carry on shampoo, toothpaste, water, etc but then they allowed it again but it has to be a certain size or under. But they still allowed baby food and formula but you had to have a baby with you. Even mothers had to eat baby food to show the security there was nothing in the food so they allowed baby food on the plane again and formula but you have to have a baby with you so no such luck for the adult babies lol. They allowed insulin on the plane still, they have to because its a medical thing. But you have to have needles with you too and all because who would carry only insulin with them but not have the blood tester kit and the needles for the injections. and the blood strips.
I hate flying now. When going on trips, flying is the worst thing and after I'm done flying, thank god it's over. I will have an interesting story to tell my future kids. It wasn't all like this when I was little. You didn't have to take off your shoes or your stuff, you only had to put in your bags and purse and that was it. There was no limitations to how much you can take on the plane, how much luggage you can check on and it had no eight limit. It all changed after the World Trade Centers came down.
They still think terrorists live in the woods and act like it.

The last time my husband and I flew, we got pulled aside at every possible time. Going through the detectors, AND boarding the plane. We had to connect flights, so that was a lot of people looking through our carry-ons, asking questions and generally making us feel like weirdos. We kept asking each other why it kept happening, but we still don't know.
We are not muslims, by the way. Nor do we dress oddly. I believe we both had on jeans and collared shirts.
Basically if you act irregular you'll be pulled out for intense scrutiny. Yep.... I'm gonna fly now. Not.
Or anyone that has a fear of flying. Yikes.
