also regarding the OP's subject. Cats? In Microwaves? It's more common than you think. I've heard of plenty of examples like this, mainly dealing with cats but dogs also.

This reminds me of a textfile on torturing cats I read when younger on TOTSE.com

under "5 -- Misc. sh**"

Death is a bit different than torturing. I doubt in theory it is the same thing as eating meat. Usually people shoot or kill an animal right away or at least try to make it as fast as possible so the animal isn't in pain...that I know of.

My brother worked in a slaughter house. :eew:

You're right maybe they should have shot it instead.

Im pretty sure that no humane slaughter involves shooting animals. And as has been said.. did they eat the cat? Did they f**k.

The fact that they did not eat the cat, and left messages to that effect, is a dead giveaway that they did not in fact eat the cat.

Literalism notwithstanding, the point remains.. there is A GREAT deal of difference between eating a creature for sustenance, and exploding it in a cooking machine for comedy value.

Well I agree that shooting the cat and then dismembering its body would have been much more humane then to stick it in the microwave.

Ok, so what DO video games have to do with it? What was the charge on breaking and entering? WAS there a charge? (I highly doubt it as there is something they can get them on with a higher punishment)

I would realistically prefer to see a ban of 5 years of animal keeping. I don't like the term pet.

Why do some cases courts say "The animal will have to be destroyed" <- unrelated subject. An animal is a living being with instincts, and learning abilities and a form of communication. Bacteria can be destroyed, yet an animal who is living can also be destroyed? So is an animal a living creature or an inanimate object?

Yes, I'm a vegetarian if someone dare ask

Lol, only problem with that: my cats tend to own me, rather than the other way around. Maybe it should be 'people keeping'.

So in 2 years these sick f**** can get another pet and just do the same thing all over again to it??? And not even a day of jail time??? :x These sickos should be banned from owning pets for life. And their 100 hours of community service should be spent at an animal shelter or otherwise helping sick animals (very closely supervised of course) to teach them to have empathy for those that they have abused.

And Warsie, no I do not eat meat.

If they put a baby in the microwave, they'd get much worse. It's like the movie Untraceable, and the whole issue over well why would you be more upset with a cat being killed/tortured in the movie, instead of seeing adult actors acting tortured. So, my whole thing is if it was a baby that met the same fate, that movie would've been put in the trash where it belongs.

Torturing a helpless animal is the same as torturing a helpless human being. That's the way it should be seen. For the record, if I got ahold of those sick #%$#^s, I'd sentence them to some treatment like the movie Saw.

I wonder if Grand Theft Auto allows the player to put a cat in a microwave. I wouldn't suprised if it does.

I really don't get that punishment.

Link here

Two Alberta teens who admitted to killing a cat in a microwave oven were sentenced Thursday to one year probation and 100 hours of community service.

The boys, both 16, were also barred from owning pets for two years, and ordered not to possess or play violent video games......

*cough* PROBATION??? COME ON.. .THIS IS STUPID... GIVE THEM THE FULL 6 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT AND THEN 12 MONTHS PROBATION AND THEN 10,000 GBP FINE AND THEN THE 100 HOURS COMM SERVICE.

BS man.. don't start thinking that videogames are the cause of all this. It's everything.. it would have happened in the 16th century aswell if they had microwaves and a cornered young population >.<

Those sick b*****ds!

If I had any say in what those sick b*****ds got for what they did I'd give them a minimum of 25 years in jail, banned from ever owning an animal and having to donate 50,000 to animal welfare charities.

It's in the microwave," one message said. The other read, "You had a nice cat.

That...That is horrible. I swear, if I ever came across those beasts I would beat the c**p out of them and I wouldn't stop, not until I was unconcious. To think how much that cat had suffered... a slow and brutally painful death.

I believe banning them from playing games wouldn't change their actions or behaviour, and would rather just stop them from enjoying a game. Gaming can't make you do such things unless you have a sick mind to begin with.

25 years in jail wont do anything... jail is NOT rehabiitative... if anything the standard 6 months in jail then mayb time in a rehab center might do something.
