Indigenous Peoples' March Washington, DC

And there are pictures of the students in blackface. It seems to be a pattern of behaviour from boys at this high school: http://prinniefied.com/wp/2019/01/19/th ... gh-school/

Sounds like they're producing real upstanding citizens out of this school.
Terrible stuff, to be sure. But I hope you are not using these cases as justification for the media telling only a part of the story.
I guess that means you missed this article when it was posted earlier in the thread:
This Viral Thread Explains Why The ‘Unedited’ Video Of That Protest Confrontation Is Even Worse
They were being racist the whole time, first against the black Isrealites (acting like apes and making monkey noises at them) and then against the Indigenous marchers. And they were there in the first place to support stripping women of their right to health care, and happily all wearing MAGA hats. So yeah, I feel like I have the whole story now and I have a good idea what kind of boys they are.
I watched all the footage available. Did you? Yes, there was bad behavior all around. Have you heard the homophobic remarks by the black Israelite preacher? Did you hear him using the word 'fa***t?" Did you notice that the preacher was attacking the indigenous protesters for their beliefs, and did you see the shouting that ensued between those groups?
How about you condemn the Israelites for their behavior. And I'd still like to know how you feel about the media leaving out a huge chunk of the story. Are you good with that -- if it suits an agenda with which you agree?
I think they were behaving deplorably and like the nutbars they are, yeah. Does not in any way excuse the way those boys were behaving, and it certainly doesn't excuse how they treated the Indigenous marchers. I don't think the media left out a big chunk, I think the media reported the information as they received it. That's what almost always happens--one perspective on a story is shared with a news agency, they post it, and then they add to the story as new information and other perspectives come to them. They almost never have all the information on a story from the get-go, I thought that was understood by most adults as how reporting the news works.
Scientific research follows a similar pattern--theories change as new information becomes available. The first pass at something is never the definitive pass. We as the readers are supposed to be aware of this and keep it in mind when taking in the news, just as scientists who do research need to keep in mind that their theories can be changed by new information and be flexible to accommodate that progress. We, the news audience, need to be similarly flexible with our perception of news stories, because there's always more info coming.
The MSM has become nothing more than a propaganda network for the state. They push the divide and conquer agenda and keep the left/right paradigm alive, all for the benefit of the oligarchs they serve. I thought most adults knew this.

Unfortunately instead of seeing it for what it's become, too many people lap it up and ask for more.

Its always been that way its just that now we have the internet and camera phones to disprove their lies.
Unfortunately instead of seeing it for what it's become, too many people lap it up and ask for more.
Fortunately, there is a growing number of alternative news sources that are fighting to get the truth out, regardless of the resistance by the corporate media. I still remain somewhat hopeful for the future.

i find that Reuters and Associated Press seem to offer more straight news without as much sensationalism.
I feel like I can't answer people's questions to me because someone I've agreed not to speak with keeps inserting himself into conversations I'm having with others, so I have to stop participating in the conversation to keep the agreement. That seems rather unfair.
VegetableMan, I will try to answer your comment to me by starting another quote tree here, and hopefully that person won't insert themselves into this one too: what is the MSM? What are its boundaries, who is considered mainstream and who isn't, and how to you make that distinction? Someone else mentioned Reuters and AP, aren't those mainstream sources? "MSM" seems like a buzzword without much meaning and that could be applied indiscriminately to any news source. I only see it used by conservatives when talking about stories they don't like coming to light, for example Trump's many (I believe thousands) of documented lies. So you'll have to excuse me if I have trouble taking that term seriously and not just hearing it as paranoiac hyperbole because that's what it sounds like to me.
Very informative.
Manipulated video to show one perspective, didn't we just deal with that?
I didn't see any manipulation. The commentator might have given the students a complete pass for their actions, a position with which I disagree. I watched all the video available to come to my conclusions on this issue. This video presents a pretty good analysis of the events that occurred.

Covington Catholic HS Closed Tuesday to Protect Students from Backlash
“After meeting with local authorities, we have made the decision to cancel school and be closed on Tuesday, January 22, in order to ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff,” read an email from school principal Robert Rowe to parents, obtained by Fox 19. “All activities on campus will be cancelled for the entire day and evening. Students, parents, faculty and staff are not to be on campus for any reason. Please continue to keep the Covington Catholic Community in your prayers.”
Before deciding to cancel classes Tuesday, school administrators planned to install extra security to protect students from the backlash that erupted after a number of prominent media outlets, pundits, reporters, and other celebrities tarred the students as bigots based on a misleading and partial video recording of the incident.
Kathy Griffin calls for doxing student's identities after viral video at Native American march: 'Shame them'
Griffin took issue with the students of Covington Catholic High School on Sunday seeing as the video appears to show a group of them, many wearing “Make America Great Again” hats, harassing a group participating in the Indigenous Peoples March.
“Ps. The reply from the school was pathetic and impotent. Name these kids,” Griffin said in a firey tweet Sunday morning. “I want NAMES. Shame them. If you think these f---ers wouldn’t dox you in a heartbeat, think again.”
In a different tweet, she once again called for the doxing of the students that appear in the video.
“Names please. And stories from people who can identify them and vouch for their identity. Thank you.”
Old video surfaces of Covington Catholic students in black paint
Users have accused the students on video of being racist, but many believe they’re simply taking part in a “blackout” event where fans wear one sole color. Almost all of the students in the video are wearing black clothing of some kind, some from head to toe.
The footage was posted on Covington’s YouTube page in 2012 under the title “Colonel Crazies Compilation Video.” It resurfaced Monday on social media following the incident in Washington involving Native American activist Nathan Phillips and Covington students.
At one point during the video, a graphic flashes across the screen saying “Blackout 2011” — which users have pointed to as proof of the students’ innocent intentions. There are multiple clips of the “Covington Crazies” donning black, and sometimes blue, face and body paint during various sporting events.
This s**t has gotten way out of hand.
The nation is ignoring the shutdown instead is debating if a random teenager is smiling or smirking. And black paint worn by students at Covington earlier this decade is "proof" that students who were not even at the school at the time are rank bigots. Not liking guilt by association is as quaint as the horse and buggy. What a shame.

Its like the public has became Big Brother. These people are like the grasses who lived in Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union.
Online hate mobs are one of the worst things about the modern world.
Talk about mistaking the forest for the trees. There was a real mob, at the very least the perception of it, and you put your blame on those who expressed moral outrage about it. That's what normal empathic people do, they react negatively to perceived injustice.
