What is your reaction to the death of Osama bin Laden?

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. The Taliban are not religious fanatics. They are just criminal thugs.

Check out Alex Jones death hoax rant.

jones certainly does try to bamboozle his audience with his presentation. my friend is a fan of his and is always trying to drum into me what he has gleaned from the alex jones "show". he sends me links to him and i do not watch them anymore and he considers me ignorant and i consider him quasi psychotic.
i started to watch this video in this post and i was just seized with defiance after a few minutes. i do not like him.
he says that it is unlikely that bin laden was killed because his death has been "confirmed" 9 times previously. i never heard of any previous news that he was dead until this confirmation. jones is trying to manufacture evidence for his claims.
that "steve pieczenik" clown was just a clerk as far as i know and whatever he spilled is a useless mess of conjecture.
jones quotes albright as saying "he was dead, and on ice", but if you read the text at 1:53, it says only that "he may have been captured".
my credulity was crumbling rapidly at the point he said "assassins of christ two thousand and eleven years ago". obviously he was not killed in the year of his birth but (as i read) 33 years after. i just disengaged after that.
it takes too much energy to incorporate garbage in to my wits.
It's weird... Everyones reacting so emotionally... I'm just not. Intellectuality I'm glad he's gone...but theres no emotional response....except maybe relief. Is that an emotion? I dunno.
I am a bit disappointed.. although not surprised at the reaction of people to this. People were dancing in the streets. Cheering because someone died seems distasteful, even if it's an evil monster.

Nonsense, we give murderers who are very clearly guilty fair trials all the time. I agree it would've been very tricky and a huge inconvenience to take him alive, that doesn't mean we shouldn't have and that certainly shouldn't be a factor in deciding whether or not to take a man's life. It would've been the civil thing to do to take him in alive, regardless of how uncivil he was to us, and I think they knew that otherwise it wouldn't have been called a "kill or capture" mission. It irritates me that they put on the facade of trying to take him alive but simply not being able to, as if them trying was supposed to put more good in the fact that they simply shot him unarmed. Your tax dollars already go towards keeping murderers and rapists in prisons, just because you feel a particularly strong animosity towards this one man doesn't mean that he shouldn't get fair treatment.
My opinion: people are letting their very strong emotions of this man get in the way of their judgement over what is justice and what the US should stand for. I think it's interesting that people who are usually so against the death penalty think that it was right to kill Bin Laden. Personally I think it would've defaced him a lot if he were to rot in a prison, and I think he would've hated it so much more than being shot in the head.
And yeah, you did imply that since you lived in the NY area that you should have a stronger say in the matter. The fact that you experienced the attacks firsthand doesn't and shouldn't hold any weight in this.

Who is " we" taking him alive...your british, not american...the burden wouldn't be on you, it would be on us...their is nothing from the U.S perspective to gain from putting him on trial...it would be perceived by the world as a kangaroo court and osama would be allowed to spew his beliefs on American soil, presumably in a civil court not far from Ground zero. What is civil about not killing a wanted fugitive who has committed drastic acts of violence? What defines civil and uncivil behavior here? Is it civil for him to be paraded around the U.S as a trophy if he was brought here for a trial and than executed? Sure, we allow murderers here in the U.S a fair trial..you know why? because they are U.S citizens. Bin Laden is a sworn enemy combatant...under the rules of war, he is allowed to be targeted and killed. Bin Laden sitting in a U.S prison was not going to happen...he would be exposed to other innmates and that would give him opportunity to spread his views, and dont think for a second the ACLU wouldn't defend his right to do so. We have that problem in our prisons today...islam is a growing trend in maximum security prison. The difference between the rapists/murderers and a terrorist enemy combatant, is that the latter are American citizens who get rights under our constitution as opposed to a war criminal.
Osama Bin Laden's head should have been cut off his dead body and held up to the crowd. His skull would make a great photo opportunity.
Osama Bin Laden's skull would have made a great souvenir for the US President and the Pentagon.
The terrorists have photos with the skulls of victims they have killed. The terrorists also film themselves with tortured and executed prisoners.

Well, I guess if that were done people would stop complaining about not seeing the real picture of his corpse. News of his death is enough for me, I don't need that kind of proof of someones death.
And just fuel for the fire, I think for additional iniatives against our interests. I don't doubt that many hold this opinion, though; some enjoy the full experience of revenge.
they were stupid to dump the head overboard. there are many useful purposes that his skull could have served.
after boiling the meat off, and polishing and varnishing his skull, it could have made quite an elegant nut cracker. you could put the walnuts between the jaws and thump the top of the skull.
another use may be if you cut off the top half of the skull, and turn it upside down and sit it on a support and use it as the presidential ashtray on the oval office desk, or if does not match the decor, then use it as a dogs bowl to feed the presidential dog from.
a possible use for the bottom jaw may be to mount it beside the entrance door to the whitehouse so that people can scrape the mud off the soles of their shoes before they enter.
as far as his beard goes, they could have made a tidy sum if they shaved it off and flogged it back to various middle eastern enthusiasts and collectors at $10 per hair. the sandals would have fetched a pretty penny too.

That's reminiscent of how Barbarians of old, such as the Scythians, Huns, and Longobards used to boil the flesh off of the skulls of their enemies, and fashion drinking vessels out of them. In olden times, I'm sure that's what would have happened to Bin Laden.

Do you know if other primates do similar actions. Barbarians also commonly cut the genitals off enemies and displayed them; unfortunately they did that when the people were still alive.
I remember reading that chimpanzees do this to competing males, but I haven't heard of them ripping heads off. But, maybe if they had the proper tools.... Anyway, evidence that we are not too far removed from our primate bretheran or vice/versa.
Of course, feral cats go after the genitals too, but don't think they are as successful as chimpanzees.

Human beings - Barbarians or otherwise - have done horrible things to one another. Makes me sometimes wish there was another sentient species I could belong to other than humans. But back to your question - I've never heard of decapitation practiced by chimps, though I'm not a primatologist, so I couldn't say for sure. But being as chimps have been known to absolutely savage and mutilate other chimps, and even humans, I suppose anything is possible.

Osama Bin Laden's skull would be a very valuable collector's item. Unique and one a of a kind. It could have been sold for millions of dollars.
The Barabarians, Huns, Vikings and other ancestors made use of human skulls and bones. Ancient tribal communities today still make use of human skulls and bones. Today there are still cannibals living in remote tribal communities.
