I doubt anyone is scared of her. They just don't take her seriously because she is a high strung "little girl". It's like Pippi Longstocking addresses the UN.

That type of thing has happened on movies and TV shows before; now it's in real life!

Must be nice to have a stolen childhood.

Well duh. It's never been about climate. It's always been about Marxist revolution.

Well, we do need to do something radical. The youth are daring to challenge traditional systems of doing things that haven't worked to reduce our "carbon footprint".

This youth knows that the progression of 21st century technology is going to take care of that. I also know the left is using scare tactics to try forming a certain system of government.

Have we really progressed as far as that for it to have significant impact? Seems like alternative technology is still moving at a snail's pace - for one thing, traditional vehicles that rely on petrol power are still by far in the majority on the roads. It's a pity people weren't ready yet to accept some of Tesla's innovations at the time he was with us.

That said, I think we all have a small part to play in greener living, rather than leaving it to politicians.

Just as most everyone has a smart phone they will have a smart car. It's inevitable. It used to be that having a flat screen TV was a luxury. Now the only kind of new TV a person can buy is a flat screen. Internal combustion vehicles will go the way of cathode ray tube television sets and monitors, VCRs, landlines and telephone booths etc.

I agree with you about the new technologies. They are changing even as we speak! However the internal combustion engine is a bit different. Will the oil industry allow radical change to the status quo? That's what makes places such as Kuwait so rich. Dubai might be able to survive with its tourism but some of the others will fight to the bitter end for their oil-based plutocracies.

The oil industry is facing the same fate as the horse and buggy industry.

There have certainly been other dominant industries that seemed unshakable and here to stay for the duration. The phone industry comes to mind. "Ma Bell". It's a former shell of itself now. I think it's certainly possible that the combustion engine could be replaced with other alternatives en masse.

It needs to happen. At the moment they need to take a long hard look and seek alternative forms of income - such as Dubai seems to have done.

I think in the end consumer demand makes the changes. I'd much rather own a modern vehicle like a Tesla. And that's probably true of a lot of people from my generation. Internal combustion cars are archaic to me.

Older cars are even worse. They had those really nasty, oily things called carburettors.

So glad we don't have to battle anymore with TVs, microwaves and computer monitors that way a ton apiece and took up enough space that there wasn't room for even the tiniest plate of pizza on a corner of the desk.

I saw one of those a few years back at a shopping centre near Pretoria. It occupied four parking spaces and had little places to put your drinks. The owner told me he only takes it out on occasion since it's so heavy on petrol.

^^^they made them, smaller but still with the humongous wheelbase [less overhangs front and rear so same interior room], 206" long and 78" wide and about 58" tall. had the living room couch power front split bench seats in front, the floaty soft isolating suspension with high-profile thick rubber and comparatively small rims for further isolation from road rash. never got to ride in a Citroen but i could not imagine those riding any better than those cadillacs which were manufactured until 1993, Sedan De Ville was their nomenclature. i want one so bad, but they are hard to find in driveable condition these days for any less than a king's ransom, they are collector's items because of how well they ride.
