Please submit your own research paper, or a working link thereto, for our own review and study.  You are a fully-qualified virologist, are you not?
I'm a physicist.
Ahh ... Argument from False Authority ... got it!

Look at the article carefully. They don't hold realistic control variables and much of the content is conjectural.
I have read this and many other articles on the subject, most of which are admittedly better-written that the ONE article that has ruined your day, and all have supported the same claim: Wearing a face mask properly strongly reduces your chances of contracting the coronavirus.

But if there is a valid research paper that can successfully support the null hypothesis, I would like to read it.

Got any?

You asked for my occupation and I answered it.

Even the paper concludes that study has some serious limitations in contrast to an experimental setting. And besides, if a mask is a piece of fabric, viral elements can easily permeate. Use your common sense.

That is why it is recommended that 3 layers of materials should be used.
There are also higher quality masks available.

There are masks, and then there are masks.

Okay, how about they go cuddle their children who still live with them, their parents, their spouses, their siblings. If you live alone, you're f****d.

It seems to me that you have come to the erroneous conclusion that I have an Alex Jones like mentality regarding epidemiologists, even though I haven't written anything that supports such a conclusion. Your flaming is unjustified.

Regardless of what you SAY, your actions and responses illustrate a pattern. You say it's good and right to question and doubt things - that it shows a desire to think for one's self rather than simply accepting what is being told - except when someone questions or doubts YOU, and won't blindly accept what YOU tell them.

I never said that or indicated it. Rather that's something you made up about me.

I have difficulty with his "interesting" reasoning also.

Of course not.
He tilts at windmills with a garden rake, riding a Harley Davison.
And looks very handsome in his suit of armor.

@tempus:

Do you realize that the people who’s expertise you’re questioning are not laymen? They’re world renowned experts in their field. Literally the top doctors of epidemiology; qualified to hold their positions in which they advise entire countries what to do during a pandemic. Your questioning of what they’re asking of citizens makes you come across as some kind of anti-science jerk.

It's been clear now he isn't anti mask and he actually agrees with the science and medical professionals. Time to move on and stop feeding him.

Now that we've made it clear that no one here is a science denier, could everybody please cease fighting over it?

Are you making it official that I have not posted anything anti-science, anti-mask, anti-vax, claimed cororavirus is a hoax et al which I'm continually being wrongly accused of and attacked for by two members in this thread?

Originally, "The Science" said masks don't work.
We were later told that the *real* reason the establishment lied to us was so the limited available PPE could be rationed to front line personnel.

Goebbels announced to the people of Berlin, the the Russians were being pushed back.
He should have told that to the Russians. 8O

If one is not a sceptic, one tends to not be a critical thinker. 8)

I haven't read all your posts so I can't be completely sure of it but I see a very clear difference between doubt - including asking all the possible "uncomfortable" questions - and denial.

It seems to me that even an actual "denier" should be able to express their views without it being alright for a couple of members to harangue and flame them.

For the record the closest thing I've posted to an anti-mask statement, is that imo ordinary single layer face coverings probably aren't very effective in blocking cororavirus from being inhaled. But they are good at holding in vapor and droplets being expelled by the wearer.
