No offense american users, but some cops HAVE to over-exaggerate a situation.

Cop: FREEZE GET DOWN ON THE GROUND!! !! !
Criminal: Okay, okay, I was anyway..
Cop: DON'T BACK CHAT TO ME GET YOUR HANDS ON THE GROUND NOW!! !!
Criminal: I already have.

Regardless of a situation, american cops most of the time have their gun out or have one hand reaching for it for Any Dangers.

As for this issue, one reason that this victim was asked for his ID was that the library had a rule that only students could be in the building after 11pm.

That's sort of like my college dorms, which requires people to show their ID to enter after 5pm. I sometimes think that the basketball players and the good friends of people who work at the desk don't get asked for their IDs, but I can't confirm that. Still, everyone should show their ID according to the rules.

I do think he was asked to show his ID because he is Middle Eastern, which is an example racial profiling.

Haha, no. You know why he was asked to show his ID, you just said it, the library has a rule that you have to show your ID.

Did the police ask all of the other students to show their ID's? If it is the rule they why not simply inform students before 11pm that they need their ID or they need to leave and then ask for the students to present it at the door. This way everyone has to comply, not simply those that the police feel they need to pick on.

I hope he has a decent lawyer. The ACLU is another option.

Oh look who crawls out of the woodwork. Really, if your going to insult someone, try not to make it lame, band-dork.

I was looking to find a serious reaction to this, something more powerful than letting folks talk about it. I found this -

CAIR-LA CALLS FOR PROBE OF UCLA TASER INCIDENT

Student given multiple stun gun shocks by campus police

(ANAHEIM, CA, 11/16/06) - The Southern California office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today called for an independent investigation of an incident late Tuesday in which a student at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) was given multiple “Taser” stun gun shocks by campus police.

CAIR-LA was contacted by several UCLA students who expressed their concern about possible civil rights violations by police officers.

The incident began when the student, Mostafa Tabatabainejad, was asked to leave a computer lab after he failed to produce a student ID during a random check. The entire incident was captured on video by another student. While being stunned, Tabatabainejad informed the officers he had a medical condition.

There's talk of the ACLU getting into it but I don't see that on the ACLU site.

I want this brought before the Courts.
