Incidentally, as a mainline Protestant (Lutheran), for me the focus of Christianity is the death and resurrection of Christ for the redemption of humankind, not foolish obsessions with the end of the world. If you have studied church history you should know that the initial Church was persecuted because they were converting roman soldiars and they were laying down their arms.

Christanity is a violent religion; those who do not believe as Christians do are often victims of violence. The Crusades, the Inquisition, the Witch Trials ... not to mention Koresh's Branch Davidians and the Jonestown Massacre.

Christianity is also based on slavery, the subjugation of women, and the slaughter of native peoples to steal their lands and properties.

It says so in the Bible.

Perhaps that would explain why people who have near death experiences, and given second chances are sent back with the warning that FEW! will enter the kingdom.

As I recall, Christ plainly spoke of a resurrection on the last day, which would mean that the dead don't immediately go to heaven, which means near death experiences are nothing more than delusions and hallucinations.

well, i've watched enough "visions of hell" on youtube to convince me.
and i met someone today, who's ex-husband had the same, it was a life changing experience.

there is a positive bias to these things as well, if you had an NDE and it was ubiquitous darkness, how many people would you tell?
a suicide counsellor told me that she knows of no one who has ever had a positive NDE resulting from a suicide attempt.

So ... your faith is based more on YouTube videos than the Bible ... lots of conspiricists seem to share this faith-base.
