And consumers have the right to reach for a different brand on the shelf. And people who support same sex marriage have the right to attempt to persuade consumers to do precisely that.

Exactly. I'm getting kinda tired of people who ignore the fact that freedom of speech is a two-way street. Boycott is considered "evil" to some unless it's a cause they can get behind.

Nothing.

Let the fate of the Barilla corporation be decided in the marketplace, not in the closet.

Admittedly I don't pay much attention to adverts, but I can't actually think of any companies which do use gay couples/lgbt families to advertise their products. I could just have missed them, but still, there can't be many. So why is this company being attacked for advertising in a similar way to the majority of other companies?

Also, in the article provided in the OP someone states that in the UK it wouldn't be acceptable for a food advert to show a family being served food by a woman. Hmmm.... Whoever said that clearly watches even fewer UK adverts than I do.

I'm sure at least the Manly gay men could get over not seeing homosexuality expressed everywhere in media....
IOW: WOW, It's an effing comercial, watch the Modern Family instead, or even the Amazing Race and Survivor.

Does nobody have the right to disagree with you on the issue of homosexual marriage? What I can say is if this is made widely known to Americans, they will flock to support this Barilla the way they did Chick Fil-A and Paula Deen. In spite of any boycott, sales are likely to explode. What should be done with those people?

that is why I am a hermit, to stay away from those kind of people [righties]. where I live they are legion. and that pasta can rot for all I care.

not at present, as I have been on a low-carb/low-wheat diet.

what is it with all these CEOs deliberately offending parts of their potential customer base? those actions should be the definitions in the dictionary under "bad business practices." those companies must be swimming in cash to be able to afford to piss off potential customers and drive them away. what stinking arrogance.
