As can be read, I did not write about insane, but about "being absolutely insane beyond any possibility of treatment". Only if a bunch of psychologist/therapists agree with each other, that this is the case, then you can get an additional treatment to the sentence itself. But as long as you are "rather normal" and do a crime, you can be sentenced, but after the sentence is done, the sentence is done. So there cant be another additional sentences afterwards from the government. As a private person or company, it is freely up to you, if you want to decide, that you dont want to have contact with people that were involved in a crime. But a government, cant sentence that on someone without cause.

As usual the full story is a little more complex. The child was the man's step son. The biological mother dies, so the stepfather wants to look after him. The woman's family approves.

This is arguably better than foster care, but would clearly warrant careful monitoring.

Being a father I have no sympathy for pedophiles, but I can see how this could be a special case. We are, as usual not privy to all the details and only have a sensationalised headline to go on.

I suppose that the mother's family does not feel that the child would be better off living with them.

I have a bit of compassion for pedophiles since they can't help their feelings. Once they commit rape though, they lose all of my support.

If you are a pedophile, get help, don't hurt a child.

As to the ruling, very very stupid. If he had reformed, he would have the decency to not even accept the ruling since he wouldn't want to endanger another child.

I don't think pedophilia should be compared to alcoholism. It sort of seems wrong to me but for an alcoholic who likes to drive drunk and endanger lives, the comparison might be appropriate.

Anyway, pedophilia is largely biological I think and I would guess a lot of pedophiliacs don't molest children. I do not think they deserve a round of applause but they deserve to be treated with respect as long as they don't act on it. This guy seems long gone. I watch a lot of those prison shows and the molesters are notoriously good at working the system. Very manipulative.

I forgot aspies don't do sarcasm , I was being serious , the chest beating on these sorts of matters is getting out of hand , I would expect better from people with an asd, I did some terrible things prior to being medicated , kiddy fiddle-ing wasn't one of them thankfully. so many judgemental people .

In all seriousness though, don't the authorities there realize that they are seriously playing with fire for allowing this? Pedophiles should not be allowed to adopt children, full stop.

That is so beyond sick, I have no words to express.
