It was certainly catastrophic for the animal and plant life, and no picnic for humans, either.

Using timber for construction doesn't sound catastrophic to me, but forest management was probably a bit lax back then.

A common misconception.

The Middle East used to be a heavily forested region, till human deforestation. And that was done by humans using Neolithic level technology.

Go ahead, blame the hairless ground ape for not voting like they were told.

"Geophysical Research Letters, The Earth's orbit was different in the past. Around 9,000 years ago, the planet's axis was tilted 24.14 degrees rather than the modern 23.45. Earth also came closest to the Sun in July, rather than January as it does today.

The Institute for Climate Research in Potsdam built a computer model of the plant life of the old Sahara, which showed the planet's wobble triggered a rapid shift in rainfall and temperatures. That in turn abruptly dried out the Sahara about 5,440 years ago."

After this people settle along the Nile, Euphrates and Tigris, the only water supply.

The Sahara was grassland with trees, it covered from the Atlantic to Arabia, Iran, and it became a sea of sand in a hundred years.

There were not enough humans to cause a problem, it was all natural causes.

It seems to be a result of the end of the last ice age when sea levels rose to near their current level.

It changed the weather patterns.

First it is outrageously silly to claim that the world is cooling. NO scientific organization in the world agrees with such ignorant nonsense. ALL the data shows that we are getting warmer. Scientific American answers the junk science claim that the world is getting cooler.http://www.scientificamerican.com/artic ... -nonsense/
?The argument "global warming stopped in 1998" still enjoys popularity ?there is a simpler response to the argument that 1998 is the hottest year on record. It's not true. 1998 is not the hottest year on record.??? GISS and NOAA both find 2005 is the hottest year on record?
FROM
http://www.skepticalscience.com/1998-is ... ecord.html
and that site is from 2009, it has gotten hotter since then!! !
2010 beat 2005! And now,

http://www.climatecentral.org/gallery/g ... s-globally
http://na.unep.net/geas/getUNEPPageWith ... icle_id=53
The argument that the world is getting cooler is based on a lack of basic critical thinking skills. It argues that because 1998 was exceptionally hot, global warming is a myth! 8O HUH?
SEE Scientific American for its response to the junk science claim that global warming is just part of a cycle. http://www.scientificamerican.com/artic ... -nonsense/

More like slash and burn techniques to clear forests in order to establish farm and settlement lands. Very much the same thing had happened in prehistoric Britain, though there the climate was much too temperate for the land to become desert.

Just going by what I learned from when I was back in school. And we hairless apes are a destructive lot when it comes to the world around us.

The hairless apes are very constructive. Just look at all the amazing things they've built.

No denying that. But we also treat the world around us, as well as our fellow hairless apes, pretty rottenly.

I don't think that is generally true, but being constructive is.

:D , and I can predict that Elvis will be sighted soon.
No one is doubting that weather cycles have occurred. However, that proves global warming. If we are in a cycle we should be getting cooler not warmer. And we are getting warmer. CO2 has actually made us warmer when we should be getting colder.

EVERY scientific organization in the world disagrees with the junk science claim that global warming is part of a natural cycle.
http://www.skepticalscience.com/global- ... -cycle.htm
http://www.climatecentral.org/library/f ... ural_cycle
http://www.theguardian.com/environment/ ... by-science
Anyway, I realize that some hate REAL science and prefer junk science. But here is that Scientific American site again. SEE #2 for why all this climate cycle stuff is nonsense and really bad science.

Heartbreaking moment when Mama Penguin realizes that Baby Penguin has been murdered by global cooling.

I finally got it. You were only joking about global cooling. I should have known. Such a position is obviously a joke. I guess its my aspergers! I take things too literally.

We have been in a cooling trend since 1998.

Nope. And you have no evidence to support such nonsense. However, I have supplied the data.
I did get a laugh at how you manipulated a graph that clearly showed global warming. You took that graph and added a line at random to show cooling! You even admitted that you altered the information.
Your "argument" is silly. As I have shown 2005, 2010 and 2014 are hotter than 1998. Your "reasoning" is as silly as saying, " On June 10 we had a temp of 90. However, the next day ( June 11) it was 80 and after that ( June 12) 85. See it is getting cooler. Summer is a myth!" However, on June 13 we reach 95 and on the 14th 100. So even if we concede that June 11 and 12 are cooler than June 10, it is stupid to claim that that means that summer is a myth. Since that argument follows the same "logic" as your "reasoning" I suppose you think that that proves there is no summer! :D
