seems to me the right-wing is increasingly on the side of anti-freedom. anti-freedom to be left alone [sticking their bluenoses in people's bedrooms to ban sodomy and birth control/abortion, anti-freedom from anti-LGBTQ harassment from blue nosed fundies, anti-freedom to use their appropriate public restroom in peace]. anti-freedom for cities to pass their own laws to benefit their people [charlotte NC versus neofascist GOP running NC statehouse]. anti-freedom for a newly elected democratic governer to govern [same group of neofascist GOP thugs passing laws disenfranchising the new governor of his official powers].

Upon reading the article was expecting a Star Wars quote. To be fair, Obi Wan had plenty of things to say that would apply.

My brother has both a severe cognitive disability and serious mental illness; my opinion on certain things like chipping, injections, etc, have evolved due to personal experience. I personally don't want it but I can see the necessity of things like that when there are no more options. Without family my brother would be another one of those poor lost souls out on the street or in prison, not everybody is fortunate enough to have a family that will to thru such lengths to care for them. If I am honest, someone like my brother should not be able to buy a gun at all and I'm not sure if he'd fail the background test or not. I think he wouldn't at this point if SSI really is banning it for those with payees then that would prevent him as well but I don't know if the hospitalizations would since they were 'voluntary' and not court mandated or anything.

People getting chipped is bound to happen eventually. My dad says he can remember talk of society being chipped going back to the early 80's. The theory at the time was that it was going to start with soldiers in the military.

It seems like anything like this is started in the military. :?:

I think it's good to stay on top of things like this and their is always the risk of someone changing things for their own benefits, but I don't think it is good to hype up fear in these scenarios. You can find the house bill online

Congress Bill

Currently TITLE III—Privacy protections, SEC. 301. Definitions. does specifically say that non-invasive and non-permanent means it can't be an implant, which is good that the people who wrote it thought of that and I think it is best to put your energy to ensure it stays that way and watch it if you know someone who may be affected by making sure they know they have provisions to protect their privacy.

I'm fine with it. This is actually for people to tend to wander off like dementia or people with developmental disorders who wander off. How many times have we heard stories about autistic children and adults wandering off and people with very low IQs? It just makes it easier for the caregivers and families to find them if they wander off.

I don't think this is something for you to worry about because you're "high functioning."

I just think it needs proper regulation so it cannot be abused, but in theory it really doesn't seem that terrible to have a way of tracking down mentally disabled people who are at risk of wandering off and ending up in danger.

If you're trying to boycott Skippy (again) you're doing a piss poor job of it. Best way to boycott someone is to simply not read thier posts AT ALL. If you keep reading Skippy's posts you know sooner or later he'll say something that'll make nuclear bombs go off in your head (like this time) and you won't be able to help but reply.

Now down to the meat of it: This is a result of BIG government. Leftist government is probably worse about controlling people but the right will do it in a skinny minute if the end suits thier agenda (e.g. the war on drugs). Skippy's view is the less government in our lives the better.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Would you like a list of some the things the liberals want to ban?
Won't take me long.

Ask racial and sexual minorities how they like less government, and you'll get a different opinion. Then again, as you've pointed out time and time again, conservatives could care less about the plight of citizens who get the short end of the stick.
And perhaps Skippy McGee should learn how to spell "their."

thank you :) things are gonna take a curious turn as soon as the bulk of GOP voters realize that their party cares not one whit for them and has already sold them down the river. when lyin' ryan and company gut social security and medicare, there will be rioting by WHITE folk. I would not put it past the GOP to chip us all like animals.

Or maybe, they'll be convinced... again... that if they only work harder, and stop whining, they'll all end up rich.

they'll never rid themselves of this false and naïve hope [that "hard work" will actually get them anyplace], will they?
