And now she's heading to the United States. She'll be boarding a racing yacht and sailing. I am sooooo jealous.

I've been in the boat biz, and they are awful places to spend time, apart from the scenery, which gets boring fast. Yachts at least have luxuries, but a racing yacht is only equipped to keep athletes alive to man the winches. They have a nasty motion, and some passengers wish the seasickness would kill them fast. Presumably, Greta wants to get back to work ASAP.

There has been recent discussion of black and white thinking, and I think Greta employs it very well. I recently wasted a month trying to get other climate activists to get serious, talking at their own meetings.

The world will become a much greener place because of that young, tender Sweet Pea.

I consider her one of the "savant child" stories tbh. Her mom claims she can "see" carbondioxide.

My mother found that freight carrying ships also had a few staterooms available. She much preferred that to the crowds on passenger ships. There is a fairly continuous stream of yachts in motion, but the carbon footprint required to gather wind at sea can be very high. Even a small wooden boat with flaxen sails has taken the work of many months, and there are no all-organic shipyard worker's farms.

Exactly.

Don't really know much about this kid but she seems to be raising a lot of awareness for something that she is clearly passionate about. Fair play to her.

I'm astounded that you have not taken an interest in her cause. It is affecting all life on earth, and shows no sign of slowing down before it becomes the main cause of change. I live in a temperate climate, and every year, I see ice form and then melt, according to the average temperature. Watching glaciers break up has now become a tourist destination, so I know that the world is warming, and the ice that has anchored our predictable weather has cast our fate to the winds. This year, the new warmer, drier air over Siberia has led to widespread fires in peat that has been building up since the last ice age, while methane continues to bubble out of the permafrost and sea floor. Whatever your other struggles, odds are that young people will become climate refugees at some point, and refugees are getting very harsh treatment as their numbers increase. "Die in place" is a popular reaction.

I've always thought that whatever blessings or advantages I've been given by virtue of being born should be used to improve the lives of others.

Doesn't matter if her parents got her the stage, it's what she is doing with it.

If by her cause you mean being more environmentally friendly then I do take an interest. I do my bit in the same way many do. i have not taken an interest in her personally though and I known next to nothing about her. She writes on her social media account about something she is passionate about and seems to have struck a chord with many others I guess. I think that is a good thing.
