You are showing things that everyone has seen with their own eyes, once they set their foot in East Asia. And they have seen more than what you are able to find. No one else gets confused, no one needs to Google for that type of "evidences," it's you and only you.
It is a simple incontrovertible fact that if many people in East Asian cities wear masks, then many people seen in the large numbers of people being filmed in East Asian cities, would be seen wearing masks. You are trying to dismiss clear compelling extensive comprehensive visual evidence with claims that you cannot adequately substantiate.

I can't say who is right or wrong re the wearing of masks in East Asia . However a learning disability ,using American terminology, doesn't mean a person is stupid; as you are snidely implying. Such people tend to be of average or higher intelligence . Some , indeed , may be less unintelligent than you .

In the West, people get freaked out at the sight of a person wearing a mask. What they don't know is, in East Asia, particularly Japan and Taiwan, people wear surgical masks, all the time, especially women. It is more popular to wear masks in winter, so allergy/cold (prevention, and self-isolation) certainly is a contributing factor. But, there is more to it, since many girls wear masks year-round.
The truth is, beside the physiological aspects, there is also a psychological aspect to wearing a mask. It's not like the wearers don't have pretty faces. Many of them do have pretty faces. Wearing a mask is a bit like wearing earbuds. It's about "social distancing." It's a way of telling people: I may be a friendly person, but I am minding my own business. And for girls, the additional message is: I am not here to flirt or be flirted. It's a way to cut off emotional cues to other people, to avoid unsolicited conversation. Basically, the message is: "just treat me like a human being." Most of the mask wearers are friendly people, and don't mind your approaching them if you are truly in need for information.
Since when did masks become fashion? Hard to say, but it started in Japan last century. Then towards the end of last century this habit spread to Taiwan, Korean, and even China. The SARS epidemic in 2002 certainly made masks even more common. And now, even before COVID-19, masks have become part of the East Asian culture. No one there would bother to ask a person why they wear a mask. If you ask the wearers, they'll probably give you a list of reasons: from pollution, to cold/allergy, to keeping the moisture, etc. But another part of the reason is simply the psychological aspect that no one actually talks about: social distancing.
With the COVID-19 situation, my guess is that this "fashion" will become permanent throughout the entire world. We can expect to see people in the West starting to wear masks for no apparent reason, too. Soon enough, nobody in the West would even bother to ask why a particular person wears a mask. In this sense, the Japanese have introduced yet another piece of their culture to the rest of the world.
Actually mask wearing in Asia began because of industrial pollution, not as a health precaution.
Given a choice of deciding whether "nice" people or "intelligent" people are more valuable to society I would always choose nice.

My understanding is that you are an NT. Is this correct?
I think it is rather gauche for you to treat an autistic individual, the way you have, on an autistic website. I'm not angry about it, Just saying.
The other thing to consider is the element of: "Credibility". Just because someone says something, doesn't mean others have to automatically embrace it. An independent mind doesn't do that.
Ezras has an enquiring mind and this is a sign of an intelligent individual. And that is a good thing, in my book. Or not.
Could I ask you to refrain from insulting people by saying they mock others, and could I ask you not to be condescending to those who post here? That is *my* job.

China, South Korea, and Japan, are each high population density countries. So you have the issues of epidemics, and the issue of air pollution. And then on top of that women use it as an excuse to cover their faces to simplify their lives (don't have to bother with make-up, and or don't have to worry about guys hitting on them). So just speculating off of the top of my head ...it would seem to make sense that it would be more socially acceptable to walk around with face masks in those countries than it is here for those reasons.

May be there is another thing too if if comes to this. Asian people are a bit different if it comes to facial expressions. The mouth region is less important to them an you'll get less of their emotions from it then from their eyes. European and black people are different if it comes to this. Hiding the mouth region is something that hides emotions and not well liked once you talk to others who expect to see your smile just to know how you feel towards them. Hiding your face above your nose is also something that robbers did for not being recognized afterwards. So it's not really well liked outside of Asia to hide your mouth.

I saw that they were selling surgical type masks at the convenience store. Looked like they had sold a lot. I am thinking they are being worn in the workplace. Whatever offices are still open.
The governor of Washington is cracking down like New York and Cali.
This is kinda surreal for me. People being told to stay at home most of the time, keep their distace from others, wear a mask - welcome to my world.

We dont have them in Ireland, that I'm aware of anyway.
I have some dust masks, but lol I would be aswell to wear a snug malleable scarf over my mouth and nose. I dont find dust masks comfortable either.
May bad. I thought you lived in Meandering, California
A scarf is a good idea. Will make you look mysterious too.
Lol, meandering meaning I'm not in a fixed location, literally and symbolically. I'll try out the scarf when my food shopping is delivered, might go overboard and give the delivery driver a laugh... I think I'll be happy to see someone at my door by then, might even greet them with a measuring stick too...

I'm waiting for banks to have a sign on the door saying "nobody allowed in unless you're wearing a mask".

Nope. I am autistic. Do you even realize your lack of understanding? You cannot even recognize someone on the spectrum.

I like people that like to learn. I just don't like mockeries when people are dying, the economy is shattered, and if nothing is done soon, violence will erupt. This is a serious situation. Face it as such. This is no time for jokes. Do you even know, below the radar, militias are forming up? There are local neighborhood SOS groups everywhere now. You think police or the national guard will be enough? No time for jokes. Get a grip of the reality out there. While you guys are throwing mockeries left and right, people are busy forming local SOS groups. Get a grip.
Do you even remotely understand why US congress is approving a stimulus package of around 1.6 trillion US dollars? You think this is a joke?
