All right----seditious conspiracy would be the best descriptor for their conduct.

It can, at the very least loosely, be alleged that the conduct of the insurrectionists constitutes "making war against the United States"--hence, treason.

I thought guys like him were known for hiding in Argentina.

Both places are havens for former Nazis, in both fiction, and in fact.

Trump may indeed be facing so much legal trouble now that an attempt to flee to a foreign country may be under consideration.

Problem is, though... Who would want him?

WHAT?!  And deprive all those people he assaulted, belittled, chastised, cheated, denigrated, deprecated, fired, grabbed, groped, hated, impoverished, injured, insulted, oppressed, provoked, taunted, and generally treated badly the dark pleasure of watching him squirm and suffer through a public trial by jury for which the verdict has already been determined by his worst enemy -- the liberal media?

Russia, Israel, and Saudi Arabia, love him. Or at least the current heads of state of those countries do.

Well my mom thought Hitler was a coward and thought he should have stayed alive and stood up for his beliefs and express them and face trial standing by his beliefs. I think lot of people felt this way about his suicide but only because they wanted to see him suffer, see him humiliated, see him defeated and he did this. I remember reading somewhere they were going to bring the electric chair to Trafalgar square from the US and electrocute him there. I guess everyone wanted to plan a fryday and couldn't do it.

Pelosi, Schumer call for President Trump's removal via 25th Amendment or impeachment: The U.S. Constitution's Article 2 says the vice president assumes the "powers and duties" of president in the event of the president's "inability"; but it doesn't say how it's determined that a president is unable to serve.

Inability or unwillingness ... the end-results are the same: Donald J. Trump is derelict in his duties as President.

You say "see him suffer, see him humiliated, see him defeated" like it's a bad thing.

You being shocked and saying to deprive all these people if I wonder if anyone is predicting he will put a gun to his head made it seem like it's a bad thing.

The real question to as is, what is the cost of keeping Trump in office vs. putting Pence in office and Pence pardoning Trump, granted that may not be such a given now that Trump almost cost Pence his life due to Trump's rhetoric. Is the cost worth it?

And although not tested in court yet, New York did pass a law saying that a Presidential Pardon does not apply to state charges so there would be that too.

Touché!

Actually, Mr. Trump does not seem like the kind of person who gives in to despair.  He seems more like the kind of person who will try his damnedest to circumvent the rules and have his own way; and if it becomes obvious even to him that he simply cannot have his way no matter what, he seems likely to take as many people down with him as he can.

I wonder if he kept a "Pearl Harbor File" on all of his frenemies...

Also: 18 USC 2101: Riots & 18 USC 2102: Definitions.

For Trump to be removed via the 25th Amendment it would have to be because he was "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office" which might be plausible, for instance: (Business Insider) "350 health professionals sign letter to Congress claiming Trump's mental health is deteriorating dangerously amid impeachment proceedings"--but would that then give him a legal defense in future trials for crimes attributed to him? And if he was removed from office that way then we are left wondering what Pence would do about pardons.

If we stay the course until Trump's term expires naturally (or Congress does a "warp-speed" impeachment) then, with any luck, we get the spectacle of him being dragged through a lot of court cases. (He would probably boast about the TV ratings for them, too. )

And, by the way: DC Code: § 22-1322 Rioting or inciting to riot.

Three Republican governors call for Trump's removal or resignation after Capitol riot

Quote:
Three Republican governors who have established themselves as some of the most vocal critics of President Trump within his party called for his removal from office Thursday, citing the riots at the Capitol the previous day.

Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R) was the first to issue the call Wednesday.

"Make no mistake, the President of the United States is responsible for this event. President Trump has orchestrated a campaign to cause an insurrection that overturns the results of a free, fair and legal election," Scott said in a tweet.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) who was suggested he may mount a White House bid in 2024, also called for Trump’s removal or resignation.

“I think there’s no question that America would be better off if the president would resign or be removed from office and if Mike Pence, the vice president of the United States, would conduct a peaceful transition of power over the next 13 days until President [Joe] Biden is sworn in,” he said Thursday.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, meanwhile, said that “people should pursue whatever they believe will make it possible — through the most expeditious way possible — for the president to step down and for the vice president to assume the powers of the office for the next 14 days so that an orderly transition can take place.”
