If that is what is needed absolutely. It does not guarantee against breakthrough cases but it makes it less likely, and makes the chance of being hospitalized or dying much lower.
I am not 38 years old but 64 with a cancer history that has left me with speech and swallow issues so a respiratory illness especially a severe one is the last thing I need. No guarantee, but that is true with most choices.
