Some breaking news! According to Dr. Oz:

The FDA just issued an emergency authorization for a new coronavirus test. It allows a person to know if they are infected in five minutes after taking the test. They are expecting to do about 5 million test in April with this device.

A French physician has used Hydroxychloroquine combined with Azithromycin (Z Pack) on 80 hospital patients and 79 survived. The results will be published soon. Hospital patients are the most serious individuals affected by the coronavirus. Within 8 days 93% did not have any of the virus left in their bodies.

Convalescent Plasma - infusing antibodies from recovered patients into sick patients. There was a paper just coming out where five morbidly ill coronavirus patients were treated with this approach and all 5 recovered.

---------------------

On the home front I have been periodically wearing the silver cloth face mask to determine if there are any negative reactions. The material has some odor but as far as I am concerned I can wear it for several hours at a time without problem. At the suggestion of QuantumChemist, I had my wife fabricate a pair of gloves using this form of technology. The advantage to this type of glove is that someone wearing the gloves would not have to worry about touching object infected with the coronavirus. It would kill the virus on contact with the Kenized anti-tarnish silver cloth. At least that is the theory. The material is a little expensive and after having given it some thought, the approach we are using is to buy some stretchy winter gloves which are currently on sale and sew on little finger cuffs on each of the fingers. This allows the fingertips to be protected whereas the rest of the glove is not. Most of the contact is at the fingertips. It would be good to wear a comfortable glove and not be worried about touching your nose if it itches.

Excellent advice for the Spanish flu that applies today with the Coronavirus. It's interesting that people were asked to "walk to work" which has wider implications for today's pandemic - why are people still squeezing into trains, buses and trams?

They aren't here. Most are at about 20% occupancy.

Riots in China over repressive lockdowns? Lots of clips at the link below. Anyone see any more reports?

I have been expecting riots to start breaking out as lockdown times progress. Not just in China but most anywhere.

The coronavirus is much "smarter", by comparison.

I actually had a dream (nightmare more like) about a small pig that I took in that had coronavirus.

I placed it out on the balcony and asked my family to take care of it while I did other things (they were visiting).

They were over for the weekend so I spent my weekend doing other things. Then when I returned I asked my mom how it was and they hadn't fed it or given it any water nothing. I went and gave it everything and I was telling off my mom for not taking care of it, and she had the excuse of coronavirus, I said so what, you could have just put the food outside, you don't have to go near the pig.
I was so sad.

I was feeling so guilty for having fun because I could have been giving it something in the meantime, just so it wouldn't be hungry.
I woke up in the middle of a long argument with my family yelling at them....

I think you are telling a porky here.

I saw this earlier but hadn't any time to reply till kids fell asleep...
What is a porky?

'Porky' meaning
Telling a porky means to tell a lie, to not tell the truth. Often this is used with kids, and when they lie about things it is said they have told a porky. Comes from the Australian rhyming phrase pork pie = lie.

Oh I looked it up it means lie.

I don't lie, and there is no reason to lie on an anonymous forum. It was influenced by the nurse telling me people are releasing their pets into the streets and abandoning them due to fear of this virus. However IsabellaLinton posted about it and it was because of inability to care for them maybe because of finances?

The joke about the song called 'Who let the dogs out' is that it's a statement not a question...
because the world health organization WHO said dogs can't spread it so people can take them out
Sort of a convoluted joke but whatever

Thanks. I didn't know that Australian slang is akin to cockney slang.

Old news about the pets - people were flinging their dogs and cats from high rises in Wuhan back in February

Just a friendly reminder, when gauging the current threat level, it's best to listen to the DOCTORS who are actually on the front lines and seeing the situation first-hand.

The same guys who said that face masks didn't help, because their real agenda was to stop people panic buying them so there would be more for the health workers?

Never forget.
We are dealing with neurotypicals who have no problem with lying on a grand scale. 8O
We do have to think for ourselves, also.

Double facepalm justified!

I only now realised I didn't read your post properly.
You specifically said: "DOCTORS who are actually on the front lines and seeing the situation first-hand."

Talk about an epic fail on my part! 8O
I'm not sure what happened.
Not enough sleep or perhaps too much caffeine, but clearly I was*so* wrong in answering the way I did to your post.
Sincere apologies. <puppydog eyes>

My credibility is very important to me, hence my public contrition.
Thankfully, I rarely have to apologies.

Quote:
To those who aren't familiar with the expression, telling porky pies means someone is lying. ... At least it has in the UK, where recently an honorable member was taken to task by the technical media for telling “porky pies” in the House. That's rhyming slang for telling terminological inexactitudes.

Since you were talking about a "pig", the joke had to involve Porky the Pig.

Long version: Porky pies, rhyming slang for lies.

All clear now, me china plate (mate).
