It’s a small amount.....but still much more than what occurs with “regular” flu.
It's also a different pattern, when we get a really bad strain of flu it tends to impact young people especially badly because their immune system over-reacts. With this it seems to be more so a matter of where the infection is able to take root. If it's confined to the upper respiratory tract you'll likely recover, when it gets into the lower respiratory tract, or else where (like your guts, resulting in GI symptoms) the chances of recovery go down.
