Usually when someone is in the process of being convicted of a crime, there's a particular indictment charge being sought. But apparently in this case there isn't one. Which seems rather unusual.
But he's not in the process of being convicted of a crime - that's outside the Jan 6 Commission's remit. The Commission is discovering as much as it can about the events leading up to the attempted insurrection, the event itself, and the events since.
Separately, the Justice Department is examining Donald Trump's actions in connection with efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

So is this basically the same set up as the Mueller investigation?

If you'd only read about it, you'd know.

I have read about it. I was asking you for your opinion. Apparently the way it works here is I ask someone's opinion and they tell me to go read something. Now while I have read about it, is it that I have to read every last detail of it to get a simple answer to a simple question?

If your question is "What are the charges?" or something related, that can't be answered because there are no charges. Yet.
It remains to be seen if any charges will be made but, going by what's been unearthed so far, it seems likely to most observers.

And no, it's not "the same set up as the Mueller investigation".

The law is called “election fraud.”

People keep saying he's definitely committed crimes, so I ask what crimes? Because while I've heard and read stuff Trump has done, I've haven't heard about any offcial crime listed in lawbooks. For instance Steve Bannon committed contempt of congress, which is an official crime. I keep hearing that Trump is going to jail. Fine great, I look forward to seeing it, but what for exactly?

Trump could very well be facing both federal and state charges—both related to and unrelated to 1/6.

Trump would probably prefer Club Fed over any state prison.

Probably the most immediate possibility is election fraud felony charges in Georgia.

The first Teflon Don finally got stuck. The second Teflon Don could face the same fate.

Do you believe that's what they're going to nail him for?

Wasn't the original idea to change him with treason for inciting an insurrection against the United States? And now it's going to bounce over to Georgia over a phone call. It seems like the goal posts get moved around quite a lot.

Two separate crimes.

The Georgia case will probably be first.

There are many “goal posts.”

Alright. I'll stop talking about this (on WP at least) and check back after the midterm elections.

Trump is a person who should be defiled by autistic folks.

He only advocates for those at the top of the Social Darwinist heap.

If we let him get away with this, we’ll have the American Putin.

Probably because you refuse to watch the J6 hearings. Otherwise you'd know just how criminally awful the orange guy is compared to the last President, Obama. Apples to rotten oranges different.

Obama ramp up the criminal wars in the ME from two to five. He also ramped up the drone assassinations, which kill 90% innocent civilians. He deported more illegals in his first term than Trump. He built those cages for children and gassed immigrants at the border.

He misused the Espionage Act to process and torture whistle blowers.

Let's just call them both rotten oranges, shall me?
