No one is doing that. Criticism is also free speech. You get to do what you want, everyone gets to hold you accountable for it. That's freedom.
It's already gone way beyond simply voicing criticism.

Like saying it should be illegal for the press to criticize Trump? When the president says that, it is exactly what you say you are afraid of.

There's a difference between criticizing and vilifying. And vilification euphemistically being called criticism is what I'm against and the means with which society is being held accountable. This was in existence and growing like a cancer way before the Trump administration. I've heard it said one of the reasons why people voted for Trump is because they are fed up with it.

1.) You don't think trump's words & actions are villainous? (dude's a super villain.)
2.) You defend trump because Obama was mistreated? Wow. That's a new one.

No for supporting trump. Because doing so is deplorable.
So more of what helped put trump in the white house. Which could backfire again and keep him in for another term. A lot of people think the over-the-top heavy-handed vilification of Nick Sandman ended up as a big boost along those lines. So yeah, tough s**t, cause and effect. People are sick of being pushed around.

According to agenda driven sensationalist left-wing media.
Yeah it's new because you just made it up, because you don't understand what I'm saying, because you're encapsulating instead of seeing the overall problem I'm speaking of.

How on earth did you draw that conclusion? The media didn't mistreat Obama for the most part. That's been demonstrated in other threads by comparing how the media treated Obama compared to Trump in headlines and especially magazine covers. And criticizing the left doesn't equal defending trump, because the problem was there before trump and will remain after trump.
Before the trump administration was the Obama administration. If this was there & growing before trump, Obama was vilified, and that's become your justification for defending trump because he's somehow the victim for acting villainous?

I'm talking about the vilification of society. Look up and see what I wrote at the top of this stack.
If you make it a point to do some fact-checking, the media companies that ran that story ended up being proven wrong by a video of the entire incident. I will not link the video here because there are many racial slurs in the video being thrown at the students, and I don't want to promote such overt racism. The slurs were not by the indigenous peoples nor the students, but by the other small group there.
The media companies and celebrities that were involved in spreading this story are being sued for slander and defamation, and will likely settle out of court. Additionally, the Twitter account that initially started this whole thing was revealed to be a bot account, and banned from Twitter. All of those news stories were based on a 30 second clip that was intentionally taken out of context. A number of the journalists that ran this story have lost their jobs because of it.
So, again, fact-check anything that you see in the news. Do your own research before you go applying hateful labels to people. Understand that you can't assume the beliefs of a group of people, or even a single person, based on a 30 second video clip.
I will also say that I was kind of saddened to see that even in a community that I have heard is very accepting and kind, I see this kind of political hate-mongering. And I've only been in the community for, what, a day? I don't understand how people can justify some of the things I have seen said about these kids.

I guess I am. Again, you are assuming the intent based on an out of context video clip. The video I watched was 36 minutes long. The chant the kids were doing was their school chants, which they started doing to drown out the stream of insults. Additionally, all of the clips and videos I have seen on the topic have both poor audio and poor camera quality, being grainy to the point that it is hard to even see the kid's facial expression, never mind determine that it is smug.
I would think that on a forum for those on the spectrum, where many people have trouble reading facial expressions and body language, and often in displaying the 'appropriate' expressions and body language, people would be a bit more thoughtful about such things.
@goldfish
Yes, it is the reporter's job. Why do you think people are getting fired over this? Also, many media companies are less interested in giving an accurate, factual report now than they are in catering to a specific narrative. So, you can either ignore the biased news, or fact check. Though, if you still watch the news, and don't fact check, well... then I guess you'll remain in willful ignorance.
