My reaction was relief, because I saw the news of the President's impending announcement. At 10:30pm ET, on a Sunday night- that's a rare thing. I automatically assumed it was something terrible, like a bunch of troops getting killed, or maybe the escalation of some other conflict, like Libya.

I'm not going to run around and cheer about the death of another human being, but I'm not sorry he's dead. I'd have rather him been caught like Saddam was, though.

Sometimes it's acceptable to be glad that someone is dead. Don't be afraid that feeling glad that someone is dead will make you a horrible person, because it doesn't.

Conflicted.

I do believe that humans can be so damaged that they pose a risk to the rest of society. Your Dahmer's and Bundy's may be mentally disturbed but there is no cure for their kind of sickness and they are a danger to those around them. But bin Laden wasn't one of these. The man wasn't mentally disturbed - he was a devoutly religious. Plenty will argue that IS a form a mental illness but killing bin Laden doesn't make us any safer. There are still hundreds of thousands of jihadists that think exactly like him. They have the justification of their higher power backing their beliefs. That's some pretty scary stuff and not easily cured and surely only further inflamed with his death.

Killing bin Laden was simply revenge. People are calling it justice. Whatever gets them through their day... this simply brings closure to a national wound. It doesn't solve any of the problems.

I'm glad they seemed to have taken some measure of respect while burying him at sea - they did so in accordance with Muslim tradition as best as they were able, if the reports can be believed.

It still makes me sick to think of this man being shot in front of his children. I know he put them in that situation but, again, not their fault. I do beleive that we all reap what we sow. Osama had it coming. Hopefully, now, we can get the hell out of the Middle East. Let these people have their countries back. We no longer have a need to be there.

I am OK with the fact that he was killed, but I have been disgusted so far with the way that the U.S. media is handling the whole thing. They are being so obnoxious and in-your-face, "yeah, we blew that *******'s brains out! whoo!" I think that is ridiculous. What is wrong with just saying "Osama bin Laden was shot and killed." ?? This celebratory display will certainly only make the terrorists dislike us even more, and I wouldn't necessarily fault them for it, because it is making me uncomfortable and I am a U.S. citizen.

As a person born on September 11,I am more than glad something finally wasted that freak. Bastard thinks he can murder innocent people and act self righteous and get away with it, f**k him.

Salafi/Deobandi Islamists will seek any justification for hatred of the U.S, Israel, Western Europe...they dont need us celebrating the death of their leader to mobilize their thought process into action. They have been planning attacks for years and will seek to carry them out. No need to be afraid of what might happen when it comes to their reaction...we aren't hostages to Islamic fundmentalists..We brought a man who committed multiple heinous acts to justice, and if those who believe in that mindset wish to follow in his footsteps...well...the Navy SEALS will be there to give them a helpful lift to the afterlife.

From what I've read, the US got DNA samples from several known members of Bin Laden's family soon after 9/11. I read from another source that one of his sisters died in Boston a few years ago from cancer and that the FBI got a DNA sample and that is what they used to match it.

Osam Bin Laden's second in command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, will most likely take control of al-Quaeda. He may try to retaliate, all the government can do is try to stop him and prevent him from carrying out his plans.

I saw it in my text this morning and I didn't really care. I was too tired to even care and I wasn't sure if it was a joke or not.

Kind of indifferent if it's the right word. I thought he died a long time ago so his death (if it his him) doesn't really invoke much of an emotion. Even dead he still has his followers and there is a war still going on.

Anyone who celebrated on the streets should go to Iraq or Afghanistan and see for themselves the suffering inflicted on the people there by Americans. I'm not saying that wars are always avoidable but the celebration of deaths always sickens me. While 9/11 was a sad day for America, what Americans went through is not much compared to what Afghans and Iraqis went through or are still going through. No matter how bad one tries to portray the threat of terrorism, it is still so many times safer to live in America than other countries.

i'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist and i don't believe that Bin Laden was in on the death of 3000. but i do believe that somebody wanting somebody dead is just as evil as what's beleived that some person supposedly did. and that consequences is all the same in the end for everybody that treats sin like a good thirst quencher; i think this news is sad, when a young family in Iraq didn't live to get their paper of the news story of a popular death of a man in a gray beard.
