That is implicit in government. Government governs by wielding force.

Government is force and violence. Presumably for the sake of public order, but often for tyranny.

And in the ideal Ayn Randian dystopia, the government's only function would be to use force and violence to keep the starving masses away from the owners/controllers of the land and it's physical resources. You want to talk about tyranny. How depressing. But if you really want to turn the clock back to the age of feudalism you should be prepared for riots and possible all-out street battles.

As long as it doesn't happen in his neighborhood!

If anything, not only does Romney not care about the poor, but he's also a liar, since he's supporting that little prick's heartless, Randian scheme to disenfranchise the poor not only from political life in America, but from life in general!

The civil right to vote is not dependent on income.

Should those who are better off be looted for the sake of those who are worse off?

And what ever become of voluntary charity?

When does income transfer change from being a "safety net" to a government war on the productive folk of the land?

I never said the right to vote is based on income. But now that you bring that up, it should be remembered that conservatives are taking steps to disenfranchise poor and minority voters in several states under the pretext of combating voter fraud, even as we speak. In such a case, income is definitely being used to gauge who is to be allowed to vote, and who is not.

I think you know as well as I do that several red states - and a few blue ones, too - are requiring the showing of ID in order to vote on the pretext that there is wide spread voter fraud. The whole point is, poor people, which often includes the elderly and minorities, the young, and the disabled often don't have the money to purchase ID. And when they do, they have to practically run an obstacle course in order to buy the ID. Case in point: one elderly woman who had been voting her whole life found her request for an ID denied - because she could provide every legal document, save for her marriage license. In other cases, a gun license is considered proper ID, but a college ID is not. The whole point is to cut down the number of voters expected to vote Democrat. As voter fraud cases in reality don't even constitute 1% during elections, it's obvious that the charge of voter fraud is only a pretext to denying the vote to Americans who conservatives want to disenfranchise. In fact, the only recent case of massive voter fraud is when that little rat-weasel James O'Kieth (who had entrapped ACORN) along with his friends had pulled off a voter fraud scheme in order to allegedly prove that it's done easily and often. James may be up on voter fraud charges himself - - and it would be really funny if he ran into some former recipients of ACORN in prison, and came out with the size of his anus several times increased!

but i would sentence him to a solid afternoon and evening of watching "the naked civil servant" and "eye on the prize" and then make him write a sympathetically thoughtful essay afterwards.
