Pope Benedict XVI will resign Feb. 28th, 2013
well todays the day.. eight years just thrown away. what has he done during all this time? let a scandal go un-noticed. even though in theory it wasnt. i mean there was ongoing evidence, to prove that he wasnt going to back down and let the brunt of the catholic church deal with the blunders. when people on this forum are going on about yeah but he's catholic he's holy. yeah, but he aint the flippin godfather is he?
count your relations today and bless them for all their honesty and good virtues. forgive the intent if theres any, and remember that god loves you all.

the new pope francis seems just the man for the job. 1000 years before and we'd never even seen a non-european pope before. this humble man turned priest in 76, then was archbishop then pope and was born to argentine parents grew up in buenos aires was archbishop there from 1998 -2013 and he is 76 years old.
Also, he was born in modern day syria. the facts are spread over these links:-

Does anyone else think he looked cool in his younger days? i got some more interesting facts about him from a little research. he was born in 17/12/1936, making him sagittarius and his mayan horoscope is earthquake and in his numero chart he is a 3, like me!
what's fascism againt unorthordox states and challenging dictatorship?
the new pope has had to deal with harsh times and deliberate interference
from lower cardinals and newly elected governments ruveyn,
which happen to share no common goals or values whatsoever with
the point in which you are making.
There is little fascism in modern comprehensive warfare and
campaigns for social injustices need to be sorted out
under a new pope. The pope will govern the new state of law we would like to think,
whist new targets are being rewritten from government, the act of civil partnership remains the same.
The only people who think that he is "just the man for the job" are the Curial cardinals who know full well that he can be thoroughly housetrained, and prevented from meddling.
He can be counted on to continue to obfuscate, to cover up wrongdoing (while potentially offering up a few sacrificial lambs for popular slaughter).
He can be counted on not to deviate one milimetre from doctrinal postures that have alienated vast numbers of Catholics, and which will continue to alienate them further as globalization becomes their Saviour.
He will be--as have his two predecessors--a willing dupe of Western secularization as it spreads its tentacles further and further into the developing world. In 1978, the Papacy made a clear choice to favour the West in the Cold War. Communism was seen to be the greatest threat to the Church, and a full-throated alignment with the West was seen as the short road to a free Poland. (I mean a free Church. Oops). Latin American practitioners of liberation theology (many of whom were Francis' Jesuit brethren) were threatened with excommunication if they failed to align themselves accordingly. And with uncritical support for the west, came uncritical support for the West's economic expansion. The creation of economic opportunity was pronounced to be ennobling; rather than exploitation of the working poor by the wealthy. Social justice was held up as a laudable goal, but always fell second to the Church's interest in insinuating itself into government. In 2005, one lifelong anti-communist was replaced by an even more zealous, rightist politician--for his anti-communism didn't arise until 1968 when he was witness to student demonstrations in Germany. (Forget the Nazis, Ratzinger was shaped by opposition to Willie Brandt and his Ostpolitik).
This is a pope for the robber barons. One who will show a smiling, compassionate face to the poor, but who will lift not one finger to stand in opposition to the forces that will keep them so.

My country has had to deal with more than its fair share
of social marches and up until a new veto stands before us there is
little or nothing we can do, to right the wrongs of the past.
The pope had led a normal active and healthy life, which is more than i can
say for some of these people who turn a blind eye to what is going on around them
and then moaning about the changes. we all have had to deal with the changes that are being made
and its from no amount of state sponsorship that is going to dictate the new rules being made from
cardinals to popes to foreign ownership and to parliament.
we have an old system in this country and we like to think it works but i was watching qst time last night
and it seems that the only changes that are going to be made stand before us are in the eyes of war. which i am against for
humanitarian reasons. Defence is only made probable if cameron opposes the new e.u on a treaty which
governs the u.k from attack. to have a post war on nato, only confirms my suspicions all along.
that the only reason his party got into power was through which he is known to govern, and that is all state of the art
warfare. most taxpayers money is going into Triad to try and secure our borders from onslaught when really the fear has
been brought on from liberation in our modern society, its got nothing to do with post war fascism, which does not exist today.
You could always pardon your new ideals under a new public referendum- in the future.
Try and understand that people are trying to balance their time with an unjust democracy and in order to survive
in the 'free' world you must try to manage your opinion or so called best behaviour to stand against all worshippers who
believe they are in a minority in todays material world.

They are trying too hard to make him like Jesus with how he kisses the feet of others yet he is nothing like Jesus. Jesus wasn't a misogynist.

In regards to this pope, i dont think he will stand for this happening now and another thing is he's only been in the church for a day or two, what s going to take place in his reign in the light of thousands of catholics who are anxiously awaiting the moves of the unchartered mess left in his wake from the last onslaught. whether you're a churchgoer or not, its obviously rendering some kind of an impact on the true marriage of testament on this crisis. And forget me not a leader who savioured some reserve in his new legacy.
Theres only time and only time will tell who rejoices last and leaves the last pope standing.
Theres only time and only time will tell who rejoices last and leaves the last pope standing.
He may only have been pope for two days, but he has been a priest for four decades, and a bishop for two. We can evaluate the likelihood of movement during his reign based on a number of factors: his past approach to crises within his own province, his power base and the power base of the Curia and the other forces that will oppose efforts at reform.
You are quite correct that he may surprise us. But there is little evidence to suggest that will be the case.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes some of this has a late description of ireland attached to it. i dont know why its there but it is

The Prophecy of the Popes (Latin: Prophetia Sancte Malachiae Archiepiscopi, de Summis Pontificibus) is a series of 112 short, cryptic phrases in Latin which purport to predict the Roman Catholic popes (along with a few antipopes), beginning with Pope Celestine II. The alleged prophecies were first published by Benedictine monk Arnold Wion in 1595. Wion attributes the prophecies to Saint Malachy, a 12th‑century Archbishop of Armagh, Ireland.
Given the very accurate description of popes up to 1590 and lack of accuracy after that year, historians generally conclude that the alleged prophecies are a fabrication written shortly before they were published. The Roman Catholic Church also dismisses them as forgery.[1][2] The prophecies may have been created in an attempt to suggest that Cardinal Girolamo Simoncelli's bid for the papacy in the second conclave of 1590 was divinely ordained.
Proponents of the prophecies claim that Pope Benedict XVI corresponded to the pope described in the penultimate prophecy. The list ends with a pope identified as "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will allegedly bring the destruction of the city of Rome and usher in the beginning of the Apocalypse.[quote]

Argentina means "land of Silver" not 'old spain".
The article is whacked about that.
Maybe Nostrodamus figured that someone from Argentina would be assumed to be of Spanish descent, and was making the point that 'no, he will have roots in northern Italy" instead.
But that would contradict him being "from Rome" which is in the middle of Italy (not the north) and unlike the Po Valley of the North was never part of Gaul (ie 'ancient France').
