because I learned my lesson in voting for somebody other than jimmy carter in 1980 which deprived the democrats of a needed vote which could have contributed to keeping raygun out of office. since then I have supported the democrats unstintingly, because sometimes it does come down to one vote, and keeping the greater of two evils out of office is all that matters in our system. Bismarck said "politics is the art of the possible" and not of the optimal. with our present electorate, the democrats are occasionally electable but communists so far have not been. the dems are the best I can do under the circumstances.

What is it that makes us the real winners? The Americans are going ruin Canada just like they ruined their own country. :(

Depends on the people who come up here. Presumably it would be those who disagree with the Trump philosophy.

Really, over Canada. Can I ask why?

I would probably choose those countries over Canada for several reasons. 1. The climate of Canada sucks, except for maybe a very small part of BC. 2. Some personal rights such as freedom of speech are pretty weak in Canada compared to other countries. OTOH, the lack of gun ownership rights would be a big plus. Makes for a much more civilized society.

So I probably wouldn't move to Canada, but if you guys wanted to invade and take over Oregon. That would be fine with me. We'd get better health care out of it.

I'll just say this as someone who lives in Canada with immigrant parents - it is very difficult to immigrate here. So many hoops to jump through and the immigration board is very discriminatory to those with ASD. Those that are allowed to immigrate tend to fare much worse at getting a good and decent paying job than Canadian citizens. Unless of course you have a highly specialized skill (brain surgeon etc.).

There are also massive differences between Canada and the U.S that may not be immediately apparent. I"d be happy to discuss what those are if anyone replies to this.

Leninists and Stalinists are not terribly different from Democrats and Republicans.
