We already have products to track "wanderers" and it's not hard to make a bracelet a demented or brain injured person can't take off.
You simply make the locking mechanism complicated. And if it's that one demented guy who has some inexplicable genius lock abilities. Well that's what 3M tape and bandages are for. ;)

The bonus of the bracelet is that since it's not an implant, you can easily and cheaply put a battery in it.
So it can "Phone home" if they move outside the facilities GPS box as long as it's within cell coverage.

With an implant you have to keep it small, and preferably not as expensive as say, a pacemaker, which it will be if you have to put a battery in it.

Also, with a bracelet, you don't have the surgery risks. An implant is a form of surgery, and surgery and 80 something, 90 something bodies, it's hard to get them to play nicely together. Even minor surgery will tend to beat the crap out of a 90 year old.

It seems to me that this is something with *more* risks, more cost, for less benefit than the external tech we have available now.

Now down to the meat of it: This is a result of BIG government. Leftist government is probably worse about controlling people but the right will do it in a skinny minute if the end suits thier agenda (e.g. the war on drugs). Skippy's view is the less government in our lives the better.

Ask racial and sexual minorities how they like less government, and you'll get a different opinion. Then again, as you've pointed out time and time again, conservatives could care less about the plight of citizens who get the short end of the stick.

You wield minorities and gays like a sword.
How about asking them how they'll like thier new microchips.

And perhaps Skippy McGee should learn how to spell "their."

The two of you are examples of what not working will get.
But to address the assertion that hard work won't get you anywhere I'll point out that it takes not simply work but smart work to get anyplace.

Note: If you cry personal attack I'll go back and find where you confessed that you don't work.

The problem is not big governments or small governments, it's controlling governments, IMO.

Smaller governments only have the resources to attend to the more basic functions of government. It's big government that can and will interfere with peoples lives and livelihoods. Of the two I'll choose austerity over excess every time.

As for the previous post: funny thing about you small government conservatives is, you want to keep the government small when it keeps said government from helping someone else, until you want something done about people you don't approve of, then you have no problem with government doing something.
As for this current post: I'm actually living pretty comfortably, so I'm hardly speaking about myself, but for others - - but then again, you might not understand that concept, as you conservatives could care less about anyone save yourselves, and the fat cats.
Incidentally, someone involved in the arts as myself is in most cases hardly rolling in money. But there is a possibility that that may change this year.
And no, I won't report you, as I pity you for being a phoney Aspie, and a neck beard saddled with prejudice and probably an inferiority complex, which you take out on people like Blabby and me in order to give yourself a short lived boost.

You forget that I do have a libertarian side which is what most of my small government preference comes from. Of course, my conservative side insists on having a huge military to intimidate the rest of the world.

I could go back and find evidence and links to them that you're not living that comfortably by most American's standards. Won't take me but a few minutes.

Who said that those involved in the arts are rolling in money? Very few are and most die poor unless art is something they do only as a hobby in addition to a real job.

I survived eight years of Obama. I did get laid off in '13 but I cowboyed up and survived without whining and got another job.

No, by your standards I wouldn't live well, but I'm quite happy in my genteel poverty. Wherever I have my wife and daughter, I am quite happy. I just hope you can be happy with your fake SS she-wolf wife.
You started this by attacking Blabby and me by demeaning us for the way we live. You were the one who started out by getting personal. You dared us to report you with threats to demean us even further.
And you know what you call most people who works a regular job, but who makes art in his or her free time? You usually call that person someone who works a regular job, and nothing more.
My autocorrect didn't put underline "phoney," so I have to assume both spellings are correct.
And in closing, I could care less if you hold your breath or not when it comes to my writing ambitions. But by chance you do, I'll take as long as possible.

the report function is to be used for calling attention to legitimate trespasses of site rules only.

it is not a tool for intimidating other members or coercing others into submission.

thank you.

^^^bill, there is just no communication possible with people who are under the delusions of horatio alger, of free will, of the romantic myth that people can be what they want if they just want it intensely enough. most people pass out of such by early adulthood and brutal life, but some don't. they have their own alternate reality, leave them to it.

I could handle someone with delusions of Horatio Alger, but it's when certain people become unbearably rude about it, motivated by prejudice, that makes me defensive.

Horatio Alger, ie. rags-to-riches. I find that people without the riches are still officious, with me. I would never realistically abuse the system, with false tips, but still would find it ironic, if they were detained and chipped. :) They are not street smart, so may just get snippy, with the wrong person, someday.

Insanity is a classic charge to discredit dissidents.

To the best of my understanding, welfare calls help to establish a legal record, and you can be declared 5150. Surreptitious drug tests, irate manners, and finances are possible signs of incompetence. It takes two signatures, to have a person detained.
