I think his "joke" crossed the line.

Gossar’s “joke” crosses a line. And we know from my earlier post in this thread, I’ve always thought Griffith’s did, too. But one is actually a comedian known for pushing the edge, and one is a congressman attacking a colleague.

As for the largest terror threat in America, I believe it is officially considered “homegrown extremist groups,” many but not all of which are white nationalists, and most but not all of which are far right. I believe there are reports on the topic not only from the FBI, but also DHS and the ACLU. Many local police departments have been commenting on it, as well, and then we have the evidence of arrest records in thwarted plots (and the ones they couldn’t stop).

That is all just from memory, but I’ve got 95% confidence in recalling it properly. My confidence is lower with the precise and best way to describe these disparate and disconnected threats; I’m having trouble remembering the official wording.

So, Kraichgauer, in my opinion you were commenting in the right direction, but not quite hitting the mark with full accuracy, while speaking with 100% confidence. You’re talking with a poster who likes precision. Sometimes a comment as simple as “I believe there are more sources” or a qualification as simple as “mostly white nationalists” or “in my recollection” can solve the problem. We aren’t journalists needing double confirmation, but we should be careful with absolute statements we may not be able to back up. I know my qualifiers can annoy some posters here, but they are honest and solve the accuracy questions.

Would they? It's pretty silly, it's the opening credits of an Anime scene with some faces super imposed on it, I could see arguing that it's tongue in cheek, and depicts Gosar defeating his enemies rather than killing anyone.

A person certainly would if said doctored cartoon has him/her killing a coworker, which is certainly the case here.

Have you actually looked at the cartoon in question? It's pretty ridiculous, this feels a lot like the whole imbroglio over the Trump wrestling CNN video, selective outrage for political clout.

AOC certainly didn't think it was much to do about nothing. Yes, it was in itself ridiculous, but it was meant to be demeaning. And what is being overlooked is the bigotry being expressed in the video toward immigrants of color, with Gosar dehumanizing them as criminals. That in particular was meant as a signal of approval to his racist supporters, such as the Oath Keepers at whose rally he had spoken at.

AOC is a drama queen. And since illegal immigration is crime, that would make them criminals.

How does that justify making light of threatening to kill them?

He didn't threaten to kill anyone, he poorly edited an anime video for lulz (which you are providing).

You're really on a roll with the libel tonight, aren't you? Not only has that crosshairs thing been thoroughly debunked, as the shooter in that case had a longstanding and preexisting fixation on Giffords, Sarah Palin has a live libel suit against the NYT for that exact piece of slander, which is extraordinarily difficult to get in this country as a public figure.

Also, dude, no one on the right wants anything bad to happen to AOC, they all just want her nudes, though many will deny it.

Gosar supported the January 6 riot of right wing lunatics who committed acts of vandalism and attacked police officers, and has given his support to the racist paramilitary group, the Oath Keepers. His past actions show this was more than just for laughs.

Old school republican Andrew Carnegie once said "judge a man by his actions, and the truth will make itself known to you." The MAGAs and QAnons have already proven their quality (or lack of it).
