That’s only for sick people that try to shake ones hand.

I don’t like handshakes especially the clammy sweaty ones but I find it has its uses. If someone reaches out to shake my hand I know that the person does want to interact with me but does want to interact with me in a formal way. That saves me worrying about incorrect, awkward or unwanted verbal introductions. I know I am going to be spared the far worse hugs, kisses, bro hugs etc. Fist bumps? A way of signaling congratulations, way too informal especially for an initial meeting or business meeting.

Some people seem happy that the death projections are dropping not because less people are going to die but because they have yet again owned the snowflake libs. First of all one should not claim victory until this is decided. Even if as seems likely in a month or two we are looking back in mockery or anger over “hype” one should not claim victory until one has won. The 1918 and 1957 pandemics had second waves in the fall that were far worse then the first ones in the spring. Should if this prove to be if not a nothing burger not the big whopper we will spend the rest of the election arguing wether social distancing was cause or an unnecessary tanking of the worlds economy.

Earlier an interesting theory was put forth as to why this is apparently less of a calamity the predicted that has nothing to do with social distancing or a bunch of hype from scaredy cats. The theory posits that the or a cause was that the epidemic hit the northern hemisphere just as the weather was getting milder and more humid. A test of this will be if the worse than New York predictions for the southern states resisting social distancing fails to materialize.

3/4 of those admitted to hospitals in New York City have been discharged successfully.

Prepare for the great salmonella outbreak. All those kids handling chicks.
I hope people aren’t impulse purchasing the chicks.I raise poultry and they take some care at first.
Heat lamps etc..
The family cat and dog might also be happy to see those baby chicks.
nom nom nom

My chickens spent most of the time scratching up the veg garden. Then the chicken food attracted rats.

They will also attack toads and eat them and they really like to feast on dog poop.
We had Aracaunas at one time and my ex turned them out to range and they dug up the foxgloves, ajuga and ferns.Massive pits.So we kept them in a run and the they attacked each other. We rehomed them to a family with no garden.
Now I have a larger run and three hens.We have hawks and owls so it’s safer for them. And the toads .
Rats.ugh.My dogs deal with some of them but they are just awful. They were in the garden shelling peas and eating them, stripped several arborvitae of limbs for nests and now are in a wall in the house.
Not for long,I saw a huge black snake go under the house.
I plan to drill a hole in the wall and fill it with spray foam before next winter.Otherwise I’d have to pull the siding off.

New York now leads every country in coronavirus cases

Quote:
New York state is now the coronavirus capital of the world, logging more COVID-19 cases than any other country across the globe outside of the US.

As of Thursday, the Empire State had recorded a total of 159,937 confirmed coronavirus cases — a jump of more than 10,000 new cases from the day before.

There’ve been 7,067 deaths as a result of the contagion in the state so far, with a record 799 deaths overnight.

The state has now surpassed the coronavirus cases in every other country worldwide.

It’s followed by Spain and Italy, which have 152,446 and 139,422 COVID-19 cases, respectively, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.

Germany has 113,615 cases, followed by France with 83,080, China at 82,883, and Iran with 66,220 cases, the data shows.

The UK has now logged a total of 61,497 coronavirus cases, while Turkey has recorded 38,226 cases, according to the data.

Overall, the US has confirmed a total of 432,596 COVID-19 cases with 14,831 deaths caused by the disease as of Thursday.

In New York City alone, official statistics released Thursday morning show, 4,426 people have died from coronavirus, while the number of confirmed cases has grown to 84,373.

“No one ever heard of this disease six months ago — it didn’t even exist yet and yet it’s visited upon us in a way that’s the worst in our nation,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said during his City Hall press briefing Thursday.
