Here in Melbourne you can get a on the spot fine if you don't have a good reason to be driving on road.

Wow. What's wrong with driving? What if ppl are tired of being cooped up and go out for a spin?

They aren't contaminating anyone else in the confines of their car.

Police have been given powers in our state to arrest anyone who isn't
exercising
buying food/medicine
seeing a doctor
involved in essential services

For example a learner driver practicing how to drive was fined $1600 on the spot recently (although it was subsequently reimbursed after the girl went to the media threatening legal action).

People have been fined for sitting in their cars at the beach because they aren't exercising.

That's despicable. The words legal action hold a lot of power don't they. Just shows might is right but legal action gives the most fright.

It is pretty ridiculous to fine someone for just driving around town.

Being inside a car is like being inside a social distance bubble.

I wish I lived by my brothers' place. Except I don't like the people ....overall they can be snobby.
They treat u badly unless they realize you (seem to) have money ....and then they treat you nicely.

The people where I am are nice automatically apart from my past lawyer. Even the police are nice.

Oh okay, you're even closer than I realized. I'm about 45 minutes from Steeles, or 90 minutes away from Mimico.

I'm glad Ontario isn't fining people just for being out driving, because there's no chance in hell that I'd stop for them.

Oh we used to go to Shops on Steeles since he loved their hot chocolate! It's the Lindt Shop at Shops on Steeles. They even have an outdoor skating area open during winter.. So u can drink hot chocolate and skate.

You should go there if you go on a date in the winter. Nothing else there is worth recommending though... unless you care about unnecessarily expensive clothes..

I do like Lindt chocolate, if only I had a date for the end of the year. Image

The robustness of regulations of incarcerating/arresting/fining people for coronavirus related activity is largely an evolving process and untested. I imagine there are judges busy scratching laws.statutes based on government policies that have been quickly rushed through. I imagine the same situation arises in case of war.

Was listening to police car sirens last night chasing vehicles with bored teens/young people. On the upside our death rate is very low.

One would hope that they're not causing more of a threat to public safety needlessly chasing people.

Well the roads are like an empty racetrack now as there is a virtual nigh time curfew

People have been saying from the beginning they have been listing people who have died of other causes as Covid19 deaths. That along with way over-exaggerated death toll predictions makes one wonder what the actual hell is going on.

Maybe they don't realize there are smart people on the internet. That not everyone is stupid enough to believe everything they are told.

"People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true." Terry Goodkind's inadvertent Covid19 prophecy?

USNS Comfort, Javits Center at fraction of capacity during coronavirus crisis

The USNS Comfort hospital ship and temporary medical center at the Javits Center are only using a fraction of their capacities to treat coronavirus patients, officials revealed Thursday.

The Javits Center military hospital in New York is treating 134 patients — despite a capacity of 1,000 beds that is expected to increase to 2,500 to deal with the spreading coronavirus pandemic, the Pentagon said.

The Comfort, docked in the Hudson River with 500 beds and about 1,000 medical workers aboard, currently has 62 patients and has treated 79 to date.

Similarly, the Javits hospital has a medical staff of about 900, mostly from US Army field hospitals.
