Dream on.
You'll be the one sacked and run out of town.
It's not about forcing submission but adapting to your environment.

I said that anyone who tries to force me to be what I am not for their personal pleasure is full of arse. Not only because it isn't needed but because the only thing that maintains it is ignorance.

Why don't you stop preaching about adaptation and start thinking about about helping your own kind against those who are stuck up their arse?

You're really grasping at straws now!
Adaptation is what it's all about since the world cannot be expected to adapt to us.
How hard can that be to understand?????

Because for starters it isn't about adapting since why should I adapt to an imposition that NTs themselves recognise as such?

I have no problem with learning how to do anything wrothwhile but much of the time people complain about us in a way that is ultimately petty, and I would even go so far as to say that much of the time the problem is simply narrow-minded ignorance.

If anything 'adapting' to what other people do has produced people that by no means are actually adapted at all, and are trapped in this vacuous position where they are simply mirrors of their environment. Some NTs understand this, many do not care, some try and trample over us. Why don't you rather than be nothing more than a simple animal and adapt to your environment instead try and be human and adapt your environment.

Anyways I don't need someone telling me some stuffy, cowardly fatalism like there's no way they'd listen so we might as well bend our backs over. Who with a spine says that?

Whatever,
You just be yourself doing everyrhing your way and live with your parents the rest of your life.

Now you'll come back and tell me you're a successful businessman or whatever just to prove me wrong.
This should be good............

when in rome [speaking figuratively] work at getting the hell out of that place express. there's no point in busting your soul to conform to a society that you find odious. i may be a white-trash hermit but at least i am living my own kind of white trash hermit life rather than that of one who pretends to be normal. i wouldn't join any society that would not have me.

Did anyone consider that he was a troll? Either that or he was joking (rather poorly)

Successful troll is successful I guess.

Is anyone else wondering why the OP did not put this discussion in 'The Haven'? Maybe Sampson has a very good point...Sylkat

Because having a life is boring to an aspie

Why would aspie want to go to Bali or Baja and get drunk with the jocks and jockets ?

Why would aspie want to go to Seaworld and watch frightened and dispirated animals preform on command while you chow down $22 misery burgers? yes meat is murder

Why would apsie want to "do Europe" ie Contki Tour when that's nothing more than a root and booze tour

Why would aspie want to go to nightclub's where drunken and boring peope make an ass of themselves

etc etc

Most normal people activities are boring thats why.

I agree with much of this, but travel has always been one of greatest passions....I just never have the money to do much of it :(

I would not travel to engage the activities you mentioned here however. Mainly I would travel to enjoy the natural aspects of a given place and involve myself in nature-related/outdoor activities. There are some things human i'd travel for....the pyramids, the old towns of western Europe, etc.....

I agree.....there are a lot of sell-outs here....but that's typical of humans first and "Aspies" second.

The sell-outs here are the ones who are judgmental of others....especially others with AS. I see people here all the time who sound like the typical American conservatives (and quite a few of them are just that 8O ) who are always bellowing away with some tiresome "bootstraps" rhetoric.

How easily they forget that's one subjective, idiosyncratic nature and experiences account for almost everything in terms of their personal dichotomies of "success/failure", "happiness/unhappiness", "strength/weakness", etc.....

Such people are ignorant and arrogant beyond belief and never seem to grasp that most people who aren't "successful" (regardless of the type of "success" we're talking about) have an infinite, subtle and complex number of reasons for their *unsuccessful-ness*. Reasons which are most likely beyond their control entirely (unless you're one of those people who is CONVINCED humans have a quality which can genuinely be defined as "free will" AND if you're convinced we all have the same *amount* of free will) and wholly beyond the knowledge of the legend-in-their-own-minds making the judgments.

People with AS and other non-neurotypicals really OUGHT to know better. Aren't we capable a bit more critical thinking? A more thoughtful, nuanced, humble, introspective and contemplative way of viewing life? Above all....don't we of all peoples on this earth know why, "the caged bird sings"? Maybe some of us don't and if you're one of the non-NT's who doesn't.....you ought to be counting your uber-lucky stars every second of your life. You ought to be saying....."but for the grace of god....there go I" at your less fortunate fellows instead of f**king excoriating them for living in SSI poverty funland while you gripe about the horrors of co-workers at your high-falutin' programming job who fail your recognize your genius "Aspieskilz" c

Dead people have no lives.
And we are not dead people.
Therefore, we have lives.

Plain logic.

On bad days, I tend to think that I suck and have no life.

Those are the days when I listen to f**ktards tell me who I am and what I can be.

The rest of the days, I look around at the world and my life.

I see three lovely kids and a spouse who loves me (for the most part) for who I am.

I see a small and shrinking (but very decent) family.

I see a small but stable and excellent group of friends. I have NO acquaintances-- but I am very fortunate indeed to have almost half a dozen best friends.

The bad days are getting less frequent again. I'm happy.

I certainly have a life. I am a very busy and happy wife, and mother of four. I'm fulfilled, I'm content, yes I'm happy.

I have a great home life, a social life that suits my desires and needs, I do the same things that other mothers and wives do.

I have "more" of a life than many NT's.

Why would you ask if we have lives?

There are people on the spectrum who lead happy and fullfilling lives and there are people on the spectrum who don't.

There are NT's who lead happy and fullfilling lives, and there are NT's who don't.

Fairly simple logic, don't you think?

People with Aspergers also might have comorbid issues which makes life very hard to cope with.

There is no defined standard with aspergers and we all are different. Making judgement on people is not good at all and we all should just respect, I think aspies tend to keep away from the mudslinging we have better things to do.

I live a full and productive life, I am happily married and I have some good friends. I am unable to work because I cannot hold a job and if I could I should have been a well paid IT technician by now.
