From what I gather the term "alt-right" didn't exists until Spencer invented it. In other words it appears there was no group calling themselves "alt-right" before then. So it seems possible anyone calling themselves "alt-right" since then are playing around with the term Spencer invented. The question in my mind still remains, is there really an "alt-right" or is it more of an invented mythos? I'm leaning towards the latter for now.

It's a magnet for ex-tea party people, ex-Sarah Palin supporters and ex-Pat Buchanan supporters etc. Spencer is different in that he is an educated and articulate spokesperson for those on the conservative right who a) no longer have a spokesperson to represent their views on identity politics and ii) have been unable to publicly share their views due to fears they will be labelled a racist

Essentially the alt-right if fundementally concerned about the future of the "white race" but repackaged in a political movement that also encompasses other issues like climate change. Essentially environmental, economics, political and social policy is all window dressing, what really separates both the alt-right and those hosting the Briebart news (now advising Trump) from other republicans - is the issue of race. Spencer is not unique. Most analysts know that the reason Trump defeated his republican rivals boiled down to three fundamental issues - immigration, multiculturalism and political correctness. Not surprisingly these three issues are also the mantra for Steve Bannon/Briebart news and Spencer/alt-right

Internet boogeymen. A virtual mythos. Tinfoil hat material.

What, are you implying that all that online hate is really evil liberal agent provocateurs out to besmirch the good names of honest alt righters? That the Alt Right aren't actually a bunch of kooks and lunatics?

No that's you putting words in my mouth. I'm saying they could be any number of different people with any number of different agendas. Now take any real group like the Hell's Angels or the Girl Scouts or whoever and you'll see they had a founding member and founding members and were establish on a particular date etc. Can you do that with the "alt-right"? I mean other than Pepe the Frog.

Or most likely, they could be the far right lunatic fringe.

That's a very vague description of any type of organisation or entity, which brings it back to being nebulous. It reminds me of numerous well known people being accused of being "Illuminati". Illuminati confirmed. Alt-right confirmed. Maybe by using the same form of deduction:

The Alt Right are right wing, fanatical nativists, racists, and Antisemites. Nothing more to understand. To say that there is something more, or more in depth about them, is to give them too much credit.

If you take race/white identity out of the equation then there is nothing substantial at all about the Alt-right's position

They still seem to be a nebulous mythos. Not trying to give you a hard time. That's honestly what I keep coming back to.

Actually, he wasn't. But he was suffering from the computer equivalent of "foot in mouth" disease.

These social networks are really suborning bad manners and foul speech.

I know what you're asking for: An email address....a phone number or home address....something that shows the "alt-right" is real.

But there are no such identifiers because the "alt-right" is not real. What it is is THE BOGEY MAN! You've heard of the famous Bogey Man certainly.

This is an exact match for the term Communists as it was used during the Cold War. You're supposed to believe they are out there, lurking in the woods, ready to pounce and defeat the powers of good, decency, and Democracy. It's meant to frighten little children and make them go to bed on time...very childish really.

(And you'll note the similarities in that The Bogey Man doesn't have a phone number either :D ).

Oh, the mayor is one of those guys with a chic name!

So Spencer, Bannon, Breitbart and the Heritage Foundation, and the rest of that cesspool of hate don't really exist? It's going to be a real surprise to Trump when Bannon's White House office remains empty, as the man, by what you saying, isn't real.

I wasn't aware the NYT reported on mythological entities like the Illuminati. I thought a story about the movement of the alt-right and it's founder in the NYT could be considered decent evidence of the existence of said movement, but I guess the alt-right is just as mythological as the Illuminati because reasons.

I think those republicans who voted Trump were cognizant of his right wing rhetoric when choosing him over other republican candidates...i.e. build the wall on the Mexican border, ban muslim immigrants
