Cognitive dissonance?

They're so invested in believing his lies & supporting him that it'd shatter their world's to accept the truth.

Kind of like believing 9-11 wasn't an inside job.

They are not lies! They are alternative facts.

I will go so far as to say they are "alternate prevarications."

What's there to be curious about? They state exactly what they see in the man all the time here on WP and many places elsewhere.

A few of those are:

Healthcare - Obamacare was predicated upon the lie that "if you like your doctor and your insurance you can keep them" and has become a disaster that's falling apart. They feel that way, Trump feels that way, so that's what they see in him.

The economy - It's doing poorly and people are out of work. What they see in Trump is someone who wants to change that.

Illegal immigration - People want the same level of tight immigration as Canada and other countries have. They see Trump trying to provide that.

It's really not that hard to figure out.

so my next question is has he achieved what he promised?
Trump voters themselves admit "impatience" with the enactment of key planks in his agenda – tax cuts, border wall construction, healthcare reform, a travel ban

Using his own words from reality TV shouldn't he "fire" himself for not delivering anything he promised?

the GOP NEVER promised health care reform, any way, shape or form [outside of eliminating malpractice lawsuits and various "race to the bottom" schemes]. all they're interested in, is lowering their taxes no matter who it hurts.

for explanation, "prevarication" sounds a bit like the American corruption of the word "pervert" which comes out as "pre-vert." prevertication, anybody?

Rome wasn't built in a day as they say. We live in a society that demands instant results.
I'm not saying I have a whole lot of faith in him, but I never expected him to achive big goals within a few months.

"the enemy of my enemy is my friend" which is an old meme. they see him as the victorious strong man whom they admire and want to emulate. they see him picking on weaklings whom they despise. they want to be him.

Yes something more deep set...it's interesting the number of cultural "taboos" in the western world

It's an old trick Ezra to capture votes, Trump initially used all this crud to "get a foot in the door" and now he's is in the whitehouse he never has to deliver, I'm especially skeptical about his promise of jobs
