I love that everyone, in their race to offer sympathy to the poor maligned MAGA hat wearing boy, is ignoring that the whole crowd of kids were yelling over the man's song, chanting that racist "tomahawk chant" that Cleveland Indians fans used to do (and the racist ones apparently still do) and mocking him.

But we're bad for calling out blatant racism when we see it.

Anyone defending the behaviour of these kids really needs to take a good look in the mirror and ask themselves why they need to believe that blatant racism isn't what it obviously is, what your own emotional stake is in believing it's totally OK to mock Native Americans to their faces just for singing a song of peace and coming together. Take a good look at yourselves and re-evaluate your choices that led you to this moment of defending this behaviour.

Why are you defending racism?

How am I defending racism?

I am defending a child who is being demonised for being white and wearing a hat.

Aren't we all someone's child? I mean, Ivanka is a child too. MAGA is code for white supremecy. When was America great? When white Christian people made all the rules.

I wouldn't consider a 37 year old to be a child, I would consider a 16 year old to be a child.

If Great is a relative term then America is great now and has been for at least a while.

Trumps a business man he used a slogan that appeals to many people and has different meanings to many.

That's some pretty strong denial. Maybe an organized march would like access to the Lincoln Memorial, that white thing behind the MEGATWATS. Personally, I would have stepped to the side, thinking he wanted to move forward and was preoccupied with his sacred ritual.

You are defending a child who has no respect for indigenous peoples or veterans, and who wears a hat promoted and sold by this nation's most powerful bigot. By wearing a MAGA hat, he is proclaiming his support for bigotry of every kind. By smirking and sneering at an indigenous military veteran, he is displaying his contempt for people who were willing to die for this country. I'm willing to bet that the MAGA Hat Kid would never set foot inside of a military recruitment office, just like his hero and idol, President Donald J. "Bone-Spurs" Trump.

So, if a MAGA hat is "just a hat", then a hijab is "just a headscarf".

Deal with it.

How do you not understand that the old guy got in his face? The old guy tried intimidating him and the kid just stood there and smiled. That is not showing enough respect? How about he respect the kids personal space?

I agree, it sounds benign enough, but Trump told us what it really means.

There are more of us than there are of you, but don't worry, we will bring prosperity and well-being to all, regardless of party.

I bet that kid can run a play in football, there's no excuse for standing there smiling like an idiot, trying to show off your bigotry to your friends.

I'm confused. Can someone show me where those who wear MAGA hats have publicly claimed that their hats symbolize and proclaim their (the hat wearers) belief in white supremacy?

Donald Trump is a racist and a draft-dodger. The MAGA hat is a symbol of his contempt for non-whites and women, since the "Great" America that he wants to have again is the pre-Civil Rights Era America -- the time when women had no reproductive rights, blacks could not vote, and indigenous peoples were denied the rights to education and medical care that were privileges enjoyed only by white Americans.

That's not how racism works these days. It's not the 1920's. They don't wear sheets, they wear suits. They don't talk about ni**ers, they talk about cultural marxism.

I'm just disgusted that so much of the story was omitted by the media -- some very important parts! I want to see the media slam the black preacher for his homophobic rant. There's a lot of blame on both sides. Is it too much to ask that we expect honest reporting in this country? I guess so.

Where has he said that?
