The Latest: Epstein guards suspected of falsifying logs

NEW YORK (AP) — The Latest on the aftermath of Jeffrey Epstein’s death (all times local):

10:05 p.m.

A person familiar with the probe of Jeffrey Epstein’s death at a federal jail says guards are suspected of falsifying log entries to show they were checking on inmates in his unit every half hour, when they actually weren’t.

Epstein is believed to have killed himself early Saturday at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York, where he was awaiting trial in a sex trafficking case.

Surveillance video reviewed after the death showed guards never made some of the checks noted in the log, according to the person familiar with the investigation.

Which seems more likely:

1. Trump, Dershowitz, the Clintons, princes, celebrities, Hollywood moguls and global financiers conspiring together to hire invisible stealth ninja assassins to do the actual dirty work? You gotta be kidding!

2. Overworked guards in the understaffed prison working in a brutal system that kills countless people through malice, negligence, and incompetence every year? This seems likely.

3. A cowardly old man seeing no other way out of a situation he put himself into after decades of forcing minors into sexual slavery, and then hanging himself the day after a dumpload of damning evidence and testimony against him was unsealed? This seems more likely.

I would say a combination of 2 and 3.

Number 1 seems like a "tinfoil hat" kind of thing.

I read CNN that guards were sleeping on the Job.

another motive for his suicide was that a civil suit was going to wipe out his net worth leaving his heirs with nothing.at least now his family will inherit his money.they cant make a civil suit against his estate because he is now dead and cant defend himself in court.once someone is dead all there court cases against them are dismissed
