I think people are greatly overestimating the chances of Trump dying. Yes he's in a risk group. The number of people who recover is far greater than the number of people who die even in risk groups. He'll also be getting every possible thing he could need treatment wise assuming he's rational enough to take it.

I think Trump haters should want him to recover. I can't imagine the turmoil his death would throw this country into.

I think it's quite extreme to wish him dead but man people really do hate him. I can understand their reaction like "karma" and them laughing about it and joking about it. But the whole death thing is extreme.

The virus should never have been political.

But people decided it was their 'political opinion' that they shouldn't have to lockdown or wear masks.

Actions have consequences. Not going to be like a tweeter and say that in this specific instance or with any sense of schadenfreude over Trump, but just, in general you're more likely to get the virus if you don't take the virus seriously. Esp if you're (like many on the right and many on the tabloid reading side of things) an older person who's higher risk anyway.

It's why I'm glad my own granddad is so safe/careful/sensible about it and knows this virus is real & takes it seriously.

It was my point. The right wing were not taking this seriously and they were saying this was all a hoax and refusing to wear masks and now I am hearing they are getting the corona and I keep hearing the democrat's are testing negative. I wonder if it's some coincidence or is the media being bias.

Without a rigorous analysis I would guess a mix of reality and confirmation bias.

Reality portion: Republicans are more cavalier about the virus. More risk taking behaviors is going to lead to more cases. I'd bet more prominent republicans have gotten the virus than prominent democrats.

Confirmation Bias: I'm confident numerous prominent democrats have gotten it, but they don't have the spotlight on them like the white house and so if it was reported at all it was on page 6 instead of the top headline.

Here is a complete list of members of Congress who have either tested positive or gone into isolation:
https://www.npr.org/2020/04/15/83369237 ... f-congress

Every Senator has been a Republican, but six Democratic representatives have tested positive to nine Republicans.

Hopefully it doesn’t need saying, but this virus doesn’t care who you vote for or how important you are. Everyone needs to stay safe and follow all the guidelines.

In your opinion, Walrus, do you feel Boris Johnson changed his attitude after he came down with COVID?

Trump is being hospitalized now... 8O

The White House says it's due to an "abundance of caution", but this could suggest his condition is more serious...

He seemed strong when he got into the helicopter under his own power. He gave a “thumbs up.”

Trump taken to Walter Reed medical center and will be hospitalized 'for the next few days'

Quote:
President Donald Trump arrived Friday evening at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where the White House says he will remain hospitalized for "the next few days."

Trump walked out of the White House residence at 6:16 p.m. ET -- his first public appearance since announcing his diagnosis -- wearing a mask and a suit. He walked on his own, without assistance, and displayed no outward signs of illness.
He waved to the media but did not stop to talk. Chief of staff Mark Meadows, also in a mask, followed.

There has been no transfer of power to Vice President Mike Pence, said White House spokeswoman Alyssa Farah. "The President is in charge," she said.

Trump has had a fever since Friday morning, a person familiar with the matter said, though an official said the fever remains consistent with the White House's description of "mild symptoms."

Earlier in the afternoon, Trump's physician wrote in a memo he "remains fatigued but in good spirits."

He said Trump had been administered a Regeneron polyclonal antibody cocktail and has been taking zinc, vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin and a daily aspirin.

The decision to give Trump an experimental monoclonal antibody cocktail illustrates how concerned the White House may be about his Covid-19 diagnosis, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, CNN medical analyst and professor at George Washington University, told CNN on Friday.
"The big news there is that he got an experimental drug. He got a drug not approved by the FDA," said Reiner, who has treated former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The memo also said first lady Melania Trump remains well with only a mild cough and headache, and the remainder of the first family is well and have tested negative.

Thanks for finding this.

I counted 9 Republican representatives and 3 senators

Against 6 Democrat representatives and 0 senators

So 2x Republicans as Democrats. Jives with what I was saying. It's a reality that more Republicans are getting it, but its an inaccuracy to say "Republicans are getting it Democrats aren't"

If Trumps case is mild, Trump followers will think Covid 19 is a hoax or no more harmful than a case of the sniffles, and then they'll be even more anti-mask than ever. :x

I see it as a lose-lose. This you just described is the probable outcome.

If he dies I think he becomes a martyr to his fanbase and the country gets thrown into even more chaos.

I wish the same for Trump as I would wish for anyone in this situation, including those who've bullied me...

I hope he recovers, returns to his family in good health, and realizes that the small amount of time we have on Earth is better spent perpetuating love than hatred.
