A more relevant question is why was he hired by Marco Rubio. But yeah, I guess he's an "honorary" like Kanye

You're very likely right.

I was watching comedian Nimesh Patel absolutely roast Kash Patel. Apparently a lot of Americans from the Gujerati Patel caste (which Kash belongs) have openly disowned him for his disgraceful claims. I feel sorry for his parents, they were being pointed out during hearings in Congress and I am not sure they realise the publicity he is getting isn't flattering.

While I think caste systems - Hindu or otherwise - are despicable, I'm glad to know the one he belongs to is contemptuous of him.

Yeah for context, the Patels are a caste/community who are engaged in commerce overseas and often the people you see running convenience stores, 7-11s and petrol stations. they are numerous enough to have a show made about them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meet_the_Patels

And yes, Kash is from this community. I am sure there's a few Patels who are wearing his likely appointment as a badge of honour for their caste/community but especially younger people from this community (Like Nimesh) would rather keep their distance.

Caste in India was actually banned in 1948 but like racism in America people still identify themselves by their caste. Race classifications in the western world are also despicable but that doesn't stop people from identifying themselves as "White" even in 2025.

More like retching with disgust, I'd think.

I hadn't known caste distinction no longer existed in India. Doesn't surprise me, though, that some still cling to it.

Yeah its not surprising that brahmins and other high castes in India concentrate most of the wealth and highest positions so (yes) they cling to it.

I just noticed the actor in "Meet the Patels" named Ravi Patel looks an awful lot like Kash
