Nothing like taking partial quotes literally and out of context...
Just to fill everyone in, that line is part of what Jesus said to his disciples just before his capture by the High Priests and Temple guards. He goes on to say, 'For I say to you that this which is written must yet be fulfilled in me, 'And he is reckoned among the wicked'.'
This passage is interpreted by the Catholic Church (among others) to mean that Jesus was telling his followers that they must be prepared through spiritual weapons to meet all sorts of dangers, trials and hardships.
Then Jesus is betrayed by Judas, and as the soldiers make to seize him, the disciples say, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?" And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. But Jesus answered and said, "Bear with them thus far." And he touched the man's ear and healed him.
And then he surrendered himself into their hands.
So tell me... How many raffle tickets would Jesus buy?
I do not know that Jesus was the Saviour, but he was a great and courageous man. Carrying guns into a sanctuary and refuge purporting to be Christian is blasphemy against the man and his teachings.
Thats probably not true, but thats the real way things are meant to be taken. These gun happy rednecks just have their own take on what the bible is telling them to do, so they can have an excuse to shoot their guns.
