Just something from a Canadian who's sick and tired of hearing how evil the U.S. has been. This was recorded in 1973 by CFRB Radio's Gordon Sinclair, but the best version of this was recorded by CKLW's Byron MacGregor (although I may be biased).

Someone play this for your President, and tell him to stop apologizing to foreign dictators.

That kind of thinking made sense in 1973.
It doesn't make sense any more.
Personally, I'm deeply ashamed to be a US citizen.

Really? That's odd, I'm proud to be an American. I think Obama should get us on solid financial ground before committing to any additional spending programs, but I can disagree with my country's current leadership without despising my country.

Then maybe it would be best if you GTFO?

Obama is smart, straight forward, and has a lot of good ideas, but he does lack experience, and is spending an awful lot of money. I guess he is better than someone sitting around doing nothing though. One of the main problems with our country (as well as many others) is greed, and materialism. People don't care how many other people they screw over, as long as they are putting money in their pockets. This goes for corporate people, as well as many others on down the line.

Thanks, Steelback! That's a nice sentiment. Our northern neighbors have always been one of our staunchest and most dependable allies.

I voted for Obama and haven't given up on him yet.

It's everything else that's wrong.

They threw away the constitution years ago. If you are living within 100 miles of an ocean, you are living in a "Constitution Free" zone and have no rights at all. You have been living under martial law for years. We have no laws, no real representative government, nothing.

We have no freedom of the press. All of the major media is owned by five people. They report only what they want you to know, which is little more than what's happening on American Idol.

Nothing remains of what made this country what it was.

It was all going fine until Mr. Jones started drinking. Before he started to get drunk and neglected the animals he was in full command. He wasn’t completely fair but at least he was wise and knew how to manage a farm. It all started to unravel when he began drinking too much. The animals who felt neglected started to get organized and ousted Mr. Jones. As organized as they may be, never the less, the animals were ignorant. Even though they chose the pigs to lead them the pigs did not know how to run a farm either and did not know much more than the rest or the farm animals. The pigs were corrupt, callous, greedy and unwise. Ultimately the farm was even worse off than when Mr. Jones was in charge. This is what happens when the farm animals take over a beautiful farm like The Jones’.

And this is still the case. When disasters hit, we rush to help. What do we get in return? Mad dictators that should be in straitjackets, ready to launch missiles at us.

The problem lately has been, I think, that Americans have become to involved in politics and finger-pointing. Already, I see people here talking about Obama. Like one person is right and the other is wrong. There isn't a single person on earth that can be so plainly classified.

Life isn't about being right all the time, it's about doing what you feel is right in your heart. We need to have compassion for our fellow man. It's impossible to "reach across the aisle" if you can't find common ground. If America ever should fall apart, it would not be a result of too many poor choices; it will be a result of people turning their backs on one another - ignoring other's ideas and only protecting their own interests. Divided, we fall; united we stand.

We're past the point where "reaching across the aisle" will help.
We're all out in the cold. We're all equally screwed.
The country has been completely taken over by people that nobody wants. (I'm not talking about Obama.) None of the old labels make sense any more. We need a way to take it back.

Americans are disliked by the rest of the world mainly becase of the blind-patriotism shown. The american government can pretty much do as it pleases and still, people blindly follow, believing the rediculous propaganda and ignoring the truth, some even go on to make highly offensive comments to justify their patriotism. For example, all iraqi's are terrorists and those so called "innocent" civilians deserved to die for not overthrowing saddam hussein. Americans paint their own country as being the most liberal and free, and regularly claim they have the most rights and that their constitution protects them. Where were these people's rights?

It's not like i'm claiming america is bad here and everywhere else is perfect, every government is the same. I'm english and i realise that my country has commited numerous attrocities in the past and are still commiting them now, sadly it's human nature. I don't try to pretend they don't exist, we need to remember our mistakes if we don't wish to repeat them. I don't need to turn a blind eye to the various attrocities to support my country, i'll always support my country. Still, the good majority of americans are delusional when it comes to critisism aimed at their country and it's very hard to like anyone who is delusional.

I wasn't finger pointing at Obama, just saying I'm worried about the amount of money we're committing to spending in the future. The point I was making was that I don't have to agree with everything being done in the US to be proud of it and to love it.

Quite the opposite in fact. We need more humble, intelligent Americans.

It is you we don't need so much.

Giving us true patriots a bad name.

If you're referring to Chavez, just LOL.

I can't tell you how much this misinterpreting of history pains me. America is a greedy bully of a country. I love the liberties, hate the foreign policy, and so should any real patriot.

Thanks for the Canadian support. Heck we're both Americans.

I am embarrassed many times, being a citizen of the U.S. by both domestic and foreign policies but the deficiencies are probably different than most or at least the "I hate my country" or the "Capitalism Sucks" crowd.

I think for myself and I am glad to be in a country that allows me to do so.
